Buy now or save for something better?

I have the opportunity to get a rough country 4" kit (used) It has everything that came with it new IE, springs, shocks, sway bar links, control arms, TC drop, rear track bar bracket.
It has about 8k miles on it. Do you guys think this is a good buy for $350?
Right now I have a 2" BB and 31-10.5s but the stock springs are sagging so the front sits much lower then the rear and the passenger side rear is an inch lower then the drivers side.
Keep in mind a $1500 lift will likely never be in my budget. And I want to be able to drive on the highway once in a while as well.

Thanks,
Bob

Hey Bob,
Is it the first basic 4" lift or X series kit?
Have a look at their site:
http://roughcountry.com/jeep_suspension_lift_kits.html

See which one it is.
If it has the adjustable control arms with Johnnie joints on one end, then by all means, grab it!

Heck, even if not. You can upgrade to the newer style of control arms later on.

Which shocks does it have with it? The standard shocks are a little rough. I run their 2+2 shocks, and I drove my Jeep clear across the country on a month long road trip last year. Great shocks.

I started with the 1st generation kit with adjustable control arms and I was very pleased with it for quite some time.
It flexed like a champ and the springs are still as good as the day I put them on. Eventually the control arms gave out and I upgraded to the X series. One day I'm going to add JJs to the other end of the control arms.

I am a real fan of Rough Country. Not only because I have had good luck wiht their products, but because when I did have small problems, they took really good care of me as a customer. Buying used, you won't have the luxury of warranty but you'll still get their good service if you need it.

If at all possible can you post up a picture of the parts? If not, a good description of everything included - MAKE SURE YOU GET ALL OF THE BOLTS TOO!!!

We can go from there, show you what to look at for trouble spots to be sure the kit is worth buying.

Goood luck!
Kate

Thanks for the advice. I asked the seller a few more questions and found out it is the first basic 4" kit. So it has the old rough riding shocks. I offered $250 thinking that I could just upgrade the shocks, But he wont budge on his price, So the hunt continues.

Yea, for just a little more you can buy that kit NEW

Keep saving, you'll get there.

Here's what I do, sounds silly but adds up QUICK.
I never spend my quarters. I stick them all in my Jeep bank. Other change I can get rid of, just not quarters.
If I find a couple of loose bills in my pocket, they go in the bank too. When I go through my wallet, if I have say a $10 and a $20 I'll toss the $10 in there.

In about 6 months I counted mine, I had $400 in there. I was amazed. The little bills seem to just get spent willy nilly so I figured that I may as well tuck them away. It seems to be working so far!

So I came across a great deal on wheels and tires today so the lift kit will have to wait for a while. I just hope 33x12.50s dont give me too much trouble with a 2"BB and a soon to be installed 1.25" BL. I guess I'll find out on Saturday
