cadllaic converters

I was thinking of removing 1 or 2 from my jeep a buddie of mine says it gives more power. What are the pros and cons of doing this. What are youre guys an gals thoughts on this? Thanks

Depending on your jeep it could have 1-3 catalytic converters I believe. I doubt cutting them out will get you any "noticeable" power. Besides that, it's not legal.

I hope you plan on removing the bulb for the check engine light also.

I believe I heard removing them is 10,000 fine. Please don't quote me on that though, I don't remember who mentioned it to me, or if they were credible. What I do know is there is most definately a fine, and if you go in for tires or service and someone notices they are bound (by fines) to report you. As here in NC they send in undercover cars to shops with things hooey about the car and depending on the wrench's response depends on fine or attaboy...

Used to be able to rod em out if they got plugged, but thats the only time it would help. But still illegal.

True. Here in NY. 1996 and newer get plugged into Albany via scanner and internet to pass state inspection.. Older than that a check engine or emissions is not a big deal. Race cars, street machines, off road vehicals, etc.. Other than that no reason to remove a cat.
