Cool Call me what you will......

Well today I was at the evil empire Sams Club..... I happen to notice a Champion brand 8k winch on sale for 250.00 w/ synthetic line, aluminum fairlead, remote, and clevis hook. So........ I bit my bottom lip and did the dirty, it comes with a manufactures 1 year warranty and for an extra 20 bucks I got the extended 2 year warranty, so if it decides it wants to turn into my xrcgarbage can 8 at least I have 3 years compared the year my poopybilt gave me. So long story short 8k winch synthetic line, 294 w tax and 2 year extended warranty out the door. Will post some pics after it is installed.

I dont wanna be the debby downer at all amd i hope that winch works out for you but with what youve spent on those TWO winches you couldve bought a Warn and never have to have the scary thought in the back of your head that itll break.
On the positive side you got synthetic line! So if it does decide to crap out in a few years then you can save money and buy a regular warn and swap the cable over

Yup... Buy quality, cry once. Buy crap, cry every time you use it, every time it breaks, and every time you have to replace it.

I say cool. The line is probably dyneema and worth damn near what you paid for the winch. It's like buying synthetic line with a free winch lol.

I have an x208 and love it. Before buying I read lots of reviews and the xrc8 didn't look good. I would keep a winch cover on it if you can. Help protect it. Heard some driveline problems as well as solenoid with solenoid being most common. Hopefully yours is good to go and lasts a long time.

I paid $50 more for a Warn M8000 on craigslist. You do the math

Nope. Thats trivial. Id rather pay another $100 for quality with steel cable than junk with synthetic spooled around it.

Well it costs what he paid for the winch. And you got it. Less weight no recoil. He got a free winch basically.

20lbs is a drop in the hat. A lot of good that fancy synthetic line does when its spooled out and the cheap taiwanese winch locks up. No thanks, I'll take the extra 20lbs and piece of mind, reliability, warranty, customer service.

Well I knew purchasing and making this post it was a gamble. A lot of negative Nancy's out there which is fine. I am just stating that it appears to be a decent looking winch with synthetic rope for a good price. If it lasts longer than my xrc8 did then it's a win, now I know looks can be deceiving as well, but only time will be the factor, and I have a 3 year warranty. As for the God of the winches I know a warn is top notch, but not everyone can get top notch and would maybe like to have a peace of mind of having a winch to possibly use when they don't use them all the time. Well for the price I paid for the both I could of had a warn, well your right, and both winches were bought during different economical times of my life too. Somethings to do to keep a winch in good working order to make last when not using all the time, get a cover, and at least spool out and in at least once a month to keep gears greased, instead of leaving it sit and be a decorative peace.

Everyone understands that Warn is the best. He clearly understood that by his post... If he was a serious wheeler and used it 10times a weekend than yes it was a bad call. I agree about always buying the nice stuff I love by that pretty regularly. But for 300 with a 3 year warranty for someone who won't use it much. It's a good buy

I will chime in for Champion. I had one on my ATV and it worked great. But I was willing to try it because it was cheap and I can manhandle an ATV if I get stuck.
I have the XRC on my Jeep. It came highly recommended by the shop that installed it. They had one on each of their person rigs.

I've read alot of stupid comments on here, but some of your comments are rating right up there kiddo. You bought a used warn from CL and good luck with that, op bought a new product with synthetic line (which is 200 give or take) under warranty for 3 years. Hmmmmmmmm. Warn may well be the best (I run an Engo myself), but not everyone is a full on professional rock/trail guru. Despite what some aspire to be on line anyway. Good luck to the op with whatever you bought to enjoy your jeep more.

LOL ... ^^^

You got a good deal on the winch. I'm sure it will be fine, plus you have a warranty. I run a Smittybilt XRC10 on my Jeep. I probably wouldn't have bought it, but it came with the rig. I've used it a few times and it worked fine. I'm not throwing out a working winch just so I can get a Warn.

I probably would have bought the winch too, and I don't even have my Jeep yet! (Hopefully Sunday).

I meant dont be a retard when your winching not " dont be a retard" yeah synthetic is nice but im not gonna pay 250 for an import winch with it on it if i can get a warn of cl for a few bucks more, and yeah. Synthetic is only gonna save about 20lbs.

Well I got it put it on and running. I will try and get some photos of it tomorrow. I am actually impressed with it. Oh btw it comes with a manufacturer's 2 year warranty on top of the extended 2 year for a total of 4. I think I made out pretty good, and will have enough to upgrade the head gasket and aluminum cover.

Cool, I already have a winch so won't be buying one but defiantly plan to look at it if it's at my SAMs the next time I go. never seen stuff like that there.

OK now I am just going to be civil......They don't! I guess, I should have specified for the engine, motor, ponies, combustible machine, I hope this alleviates any thinking or mental processes.

I think that was (I hope anyway) a poor attempt at humor. Good luck with your winch and even though "some" say it "only" saves you 20 lbs, the real savings is in the ease of use as well as a huge safety aspect of synthetic over steel cable.

You're confusing "a drop in the bucket" with "a drop of the hat."

Synthetic lines don't just save "20lbs." They're much safer than steel lines. I'd rather use a "fancy" synthetic line than a steel cable.

Yep in my opinion, buying a cheap winch is false economy. Buying a second cheap winch after the first cheap winch failed is making the same mistake twice and expecting a different outcome for the second time. Buying a quality Warn M8000 the first time would have been easier and in terms of everything involved including the first winch's failure, labor, etc. would have been no more costly

And the Champion winch is from China of course and thinking it comes with Dyneema synthetic rope is like guessing the plastic ring found in the Cracker Jacks ring has a real diamond on it. Ain't gonna happen. Real Dyneema rope costs nearly as much as that winch did.

And the benefits of synthetic lines are many, that they happen save weight is a minor benefit.

Haha, my viking 3/8 synthetic line cost me more than my Engo winch did. One solenoid has died on me but the winch was still usable. $20 fix. I'll probably run it until it really gives out then get something else.

I learned my lesson when my new XRCrap8 broke before it's second year. It only took once.
That $299 I wasted could of bought a Viking winchline for my Warn.

I truly hope the OP has better luck with his money saving ventures than I did.
