04, only automatic available; no Rubicon available.

05/06, auto or NSG-370 six-speed available. Some like the six-speed, others have had issues.
Rubicon is available in 05/06.
05/06 may be subject to OPDA problems, easily replaced with a Dorman unit that corrects design deficiency.
05/06 may be subject to fuel fill problems/splashback because of ethanol in the fuel swelling some tank components. Homebrewed fix is easy enough.

I would have to agree with the side that states the OPDA issue and the dislike of the NSG370 transmission are overblown. I love mine and looking back I am glad that I didn't get the 04 Rubicon I was going to purchase. I was going to fly into Dulles and the dealer meet me in the parking lot. Instead I took a train to PA and the dealer picked me up. If this is your interest, an LJ. Don't be afraid to spread out your search area. It's probably not going to show up on the corner lot. It could....anything is possible just not likely. Now for the splashback on fill ups...yep. GM filler tube seems to be the fix. Winter.......ah it's spring....just no difference from winter here. Summertime project...if I'm not busy that weekend...it's been a long winter. The extra room...it's a major difference, the legroom in the rear...it's noticeable to some, Dana 44 rear, disc brakes all around, cruising at 75 down the highway in 6th, radio jamming, LJ tracking like it was on rails...make it hard to beat IMO.

Forgot to add, if you're considering an LJ. Take into account how many were made and how rare they are becoming and will be one day.

'05, 4" lift on 33's, 93k miles and purrs like a kitten.
I looked for 6 mos. Just dont over pay
I think the biggest problem is the previous owners lack of maintenance, or crappy repairs (my personal experience).
