Can I make my 2001 Wrangler HI Performance?

I would like to look into whether I can convert my stock 2001 Wrangler into a street machine. When I was a kid, my buddy had a Renegade with a small block 8 cylinder, headers etc. Is this somewhat affordable for mine?

An odd question perhaps, but hey, we all get to do just exactly what we want to, with our jeeps. Start here:

Burnsville Offroad Jeep JK Hemi Conversions

They also do TJ's

I have seen an '03 running around my parts with a 5.2L and the 4Speed transmission he got out of another dodge product. He is rough on the dana 35 though. Barking the tires on take off is cool. He is running 33's.

Thanks VI. I suspect that the cost will be huge. I may also look into an old Renegade in decent shape to work with.

if i wanted a street based TJ i would get an NP242 t-case form an XJ or XJ the one with the 4 full time option. then take the 4.0 and build it into a 4.6 stroker motor. then lose the fenders up front then comp cut the rear with a 5 inch stretch run some good sticky tires and have fun with it.

i have a unhealthy idea of building a rat rod style YJ pick up in the future

If you have lots of money you can.

If thats the direction you want to go, I would sell it for a CJ with the 304 and spend the extra money on a transmission swap and a blower. Or better yet an F150 SVT
