Can NOT get my back window off

I see its suppose to unzip to the left (drivers) side. check.
Get both zippers to that side, check
Pull like crazy on the bottom zipper to get it to come off, repeat with the next zipper... not check.
If I pull any harder I'm certain I'm going to rip a hole in something. Can't help that the end of the zipper looks to have a thicker green build up than the statue of liberty, but come on!!
I've tried candle wax, WD-40, PB Blaster. nothing budges this thing.

Am I doing something wrong?

do the zippers stay with the top or with the window once its released? This will help me know what part to pull on.

On my TJ they stay with the top, on my wife's JK they go WITH the rear window.

After I type this I wonder if I am not backwards

Unzip both sides up, pull out the bar, roll it up and use the little elastic bands to keep it up. This will help when when putting the top down also.

I roll my bar up in there with the window. I don't take it out at all.

I'm having the same problem. I don't mind keeping it rolled up and out of the way, but I want to change the clear rear window out for a tinted one, so I have to get it off at least once.

They open up just like a jacket zipper. Get to the end and separate them.

If you don't want to spend money on "zipper lube", my Marine canvas guy said chapstick works just as well.

Ok, gonna clean the ends up with a dremel (there is a good amount of oxidation on them), chapstick the hell out of this thing and then figure out for good, do the zippers stay with the window or top.
Also, rolling it up isn't an option for me as I don't have the straps. Normally I just tuck it behind the seat when putting the top down but now there is a sub back there so I'm trying to avoid tucking it behind a box, between a seat, etc etc.

This is how far I can get the zippers (this just shows the one, but having the other over there I get to the same place). It looks like I'm just about there.... thoughts?

From the pic you are pulling in the wrong direction, The flat side if the pull is where it releases there should be a little square metal piece at the other end of the zipper., pull until the 2 meet. just like a coat zipper etc., the wider part is to help start the 2 sides.

aannnddd I'm let down. the pass side has a small metal clip at the end of the teeth on both the window side and the top side. These will not pass though the zippers... What kind of messed up top do I have on this thing LOL.
Oh well, guess tucking it between the sub and seat are my only options.

Both zippers should end up on the drivers side to pull the window out. There's my .02 ... Not sure how to fix the corrosion problem

It should be just like a winter parka zipper-both zippers go to one end (usually the driver's side) and then you pop them off the end. As far as I can remember, one side of the zipper and both pulls stays on the soft top-the window you take out has only the other half of the zipper strip.
The 'metal' tab end of the zipper strip shouldn't be fixed/held together by anything-it should pull right apart when you bring the zipper down to it. If it IS held together-then you don't have the OEM zipper-it's been replaced and with the wrong type of double zipper.
just saw your pic of the passenger side, and that looks right.
rechecked the drivers side pic and that is also right, but you need to have both zipper pulls tight together there and the window side should pull right out.

Well I'm happy to hear that they appear to be correct on each end... still not sure what I'm going to do in order to get this off... One way or another though, that top is coming down TODAY!!

Lol. I never have rolled mine up. I've always taken it out. Funny how folks do the same thing differently

I have two zipper pulls, and when the window comes out they are both on the drivers side, and the first one (lower of the two when they are on the driver side) the flat part points up, and the upper one the flat part points down. The window will not come out unless the two zipper pulls are right next to each other (touching flat parts, at the very bottom of the overall zipper, at the drivers corner) and they stay with the top so the window lifts out of them

so on yours, does it too just have what appears to be the two flat metal pieces where they connect/disconnect, or does yours have a stop on the soft top side of things?

I'm doing nothing on my lunch but trying to get this freakin thing out!!

there is a stop on the pass side. but the driver side looks like the second pic where it is pulled out, just on both sides. Mine are plastic and longer but its just the way it was manufactured. in your pic it looks right, but one side is a hair lower and i can see a tooth has jumped a bit. try doing both zippers together as you work to the lowest point on the driver side. i know if they are not completely together, at the very bottom, the window will not lift out. It looks like your first zipper has to go down a "smidge". I cant see the little long parts of the zipper when i get them to the lowest point

THANK YOU EVERYONE!!!!!!!
Took some sandpaper to the ends, used the suggestions above, the zippers stayed with the top (once cleaned you can see how stops are worked into the metal tabs). Again thank you thank you thank you!!!
