Cant Secure TJ soft top

I just bought my jeep today, and I had the guy i bought it from teach me how to put the top down, and I drove it around and proudly showed if off all day, and now I'm home. The first thing I did was pull the top up, then I zipped on the back seat windows and tucked in the weather stripping. Then I went up to the front and tried to clip the from bar on to the window and couldn't do it. I had to get my roommates to come help me and we final got the clips in, but I tried to push the clamp down (the part that covers the clip that slips into the hole above the windshield) and I heard a terrible cracking noise so I stopped. Also the weather stripping for the area right above the front windows is to far back to push in. What am I doing wrong? Is it really that hard to attach the top?

Any help if appreciated!

Before you zip up the back, place the clips up front in place first (behind the visors) but don't secure them yet, then start from the rear an secure everything. Once you get to the front all you will need to do is press down on those latches behind the visors and your done!

Welcome to the Jeep family!

Thanks! That did the trick! The guy I bought it from didn't even tell me to take off the back window, so that would have helped Thanks a million!
