can't get the rear window to unzip. 60 degrees this weekend so time to put down the top. i noticed the corner of the rear window zipper had separated and i can't get past it. Before i break something anyone have a suggestion on best way to deal with it?
If you can zip up and then roll up the window then use the straps to hold it and put the top down into the tub.
Not ideal but it works!
Where are the flat lands of CT?? I'm in the hills
going to spend some time this coming weekend cleaning it up and lubing it. the harsh winter here in the North East resulted in a lot of crud and salt up under the flaps of the windows.
i cant get my rear window zippers to move at all. tried everything. they are lined up, but the zipper seems to be frozen in place. if i could ever get them free i would use lube on the zipper from now on. any ideas on how to get them unstuck? ive pulled with pliers as hard as i could...didnt even budge. tried wd40, silicone spray, soap, lots of bad words, etc.... wanna get the back open for summer....any suggestions?
I had that problem with my rear window. I used the same tactics as you, swearing included. What worked for me was pulling the zipper down (not up) with the pliers and then spraying the crap out of it with WD-40. The zipper then went up fairly easily.
I had this same issue being in the Chicago area. I own a motorcycle so I took some Chain wax spray i use for bike chains and sprayed that on the zippers. I gave it a couple days and sprayed them again and they popped free.
Besides a good quality zipper lube I would suggest you pull the zipper the way it will go, and then chase it with the second zipper pull.
Also popping the corners loose may give some needed flex in the zippers.
I put a small zip tie through the pull...a lot easier on the fingers...if it gets too hard to pull only the zip tie breaks. I use the Mopar zipper lube, works really well.
I had issues with my rear zipper. The teeth would not mesh together like in the OP's pic. I had to force the slider past the messed up part then squeeze the slider with a pair of pliers. Years of pulling on it caused the slider to open up some causing the problem in the pic. All is well now. Some kind of lube on the zipper is a good thing too.
