Car Audio/Bluetooth

Hey all. Finally got myself a Wrangler. (06 TJ) Damn I've been missing out. Anyway, looking to replace the stock head unit w/ one that has hands free bluetooth so I can speak on the phone.

1. Is this even possible w/ no top? or is there just waaaay too much wind?

2. If it is possible, would the integrated mic in the head unit be better than an external mic hooked on somewhere? Not sure. I'm thinking the ext. mic would be better in a "normal" car, but in a jeep, maybe built into the head unit is better to block wind? Or does it all just sound like crap.

Thanks in advance and feel free to fill me in on any "newbie" (hate that freakin word) jeep advice!

Cheers

Go with an external mic then the built-in....external mic's are directional which will help top down. I have the Pioneer 8300 stereo with built-in BT and comes with an external mic. If you aren't handsfree in San Diego there is 150 ticket starting first offense. If top is down at 55-65 it is difficult to hear me but still possible.

It's all still possible, but sometimes it will be better to just send the call to voicemail.

I have the Kenwood BT something and it works pretty well. However, with the top down and higher speeds it can be much more difficult for the person on the other end to hear you. They usually come through loud and clear. I'm pretty happy with the unit all in all.

I have the Sony MEX 3800BTU. The blue tooth works at stop lights. I have a phone holder on my dash. When the phone rings I can see who is calling and can pull over to call them back. Not much works well with the top down. Just too much noise.
