Car Safe Accessory for my new Wrangler?

First post....

I just got an '06 Black X-Type and I absolutely love it!

Anyway, I mainly will be keeping the top down as I will soon be relocating to San Diego. I have paperwork / laptop that I take to and from work that I would like to leave in the jeep while I go to the gym (the center console is too small).

Is there an accessory that attaches anywhere that would
1. Be securely attached to the vehicle and locked
2. Be waterproof???

Or is there a good car safe that anyone knows of that could carry important documents?

Thank you for the assistance.

welcome...Tuffy makes some strong, durable storage drawers that bolt to the floor so you could check that

I'd be curious as to what you find. I haven't found a waterproof anything yet and my Tuffy under seat drawer sure doesn't feel like the 3-3/8" in the spec. Wouldn't even try to put a blow molded case (like the pic) in the drawer!

There is no way that I would leave anything I want to keep in my Jeep. khendeson has some intersting photos in a thread around here somewhere of his tuffy console. It was demolished in an airport parking lot.

I know a little bit about vaults and safes and none are designed to be impregnable. You might could find something to lock your stuff up in, but I personally wouldn't be comfortable with it.

One thing you can try is though is something I have used from time to time. A large ammo can. I think the can is for like a 50 cal. or something. It's big and thicker than the average ammo can. Sometimes I'll chain it to my roll bar and I have heavy padlocks on the can itself. It's a cheap way to go.

Don't leave anything in it. My Jeep got broken into with a month of having. The lockers in your gym would be safer.

I gues it depends on where you live. I leave the keys in my TJ all the time. I carry a med bag at times, I have an amp and subs. No one has given me any problems yet. But I do have insurance to cover it just in case. My theroy is if they want it they will get it, regardless of locked doors or such.

Please post where you park your TJ. You're not very far away and we could use that Jeep at our camp.
