Car Seats For Kids?

Does anyone have any experience with child car seats in the back of a TJ? Can you fit two side by side in the back seat? I'm talking about the big Britax or Graco seats? I'm guessing it's not a problem but I want to make sure....

Yes you can fit them in there. If you'll like I'll take a pic for you. No problem at all for me.

Do the kids try to battle each other because they are so close? In the crew cab of my F350 they are pretty far apart and my son pushes my daughter's buttons all the time. It should be interesting when the seats are almost touching!

Not sure yet on the fight. lol. My second kid is due to be born any day now so I guess we'll have to see on that one.

Just think of it this way ...it's real easy to reach them in the back seat in a TJ.

as long as you have something to tether them to and they don't touch you should be fine. i have a niece and nephew with separate seats and i can fit both seats there you should be fine

Here's the pic's you wanted. The carseat with the base is HUGE. And they both fit without a problem.

The only hard part was trying to take this pictures. My garage lights suck.

Thanks for posting those pics. Appreciate it. Do the shoulder belts cam lock if you pull them out all the way then let them go?

The seat belts work just like the shoulder belts in the front of your ford. And the same as most all cars.

Oh yeah!!!

Got 97 Softtop TJ. Two girls in Full size 5 point harness Car seats Anchored to the Frame. Side by Side and cup holders of to the Sides. The hardest part is getting your hands behind or in the car seat holes for the seat belts then anchoring down.

IIRC anything 2000 and newer actually has the LATCH tether points already in. I have an 04 Unlimited and use them. Fits very nicely but lose some cargo space cuz the back mount point is actually on the floor near the tailgate. You end up with a strap going from the top of the seat to thiat point. The other two mount points are where the seatbelts slide between the cushions. It is simpler than it sounds. I started using these cuz my two year old started to unbuckle the seat belt that was holding the child seat in.
