I have this C.RES Systems Cargo Nets - Smittybilt the smittybilt cargo cover I bought new. I wasn't thinking when I ordered it. I was hoping I could mount this under my soft top to make it easier when I take the sides and back off of the soft top and have this on there so I can load up my dogs in the back and keep them safe. Has anyone modified one of these to do just that or do you have another other ideas?

The newer SmittyB's "C.RES2 HD" version does just what you want. Any chance you can send the orignal C.RES back for credit against the newer version?

I probably will spring for one soon myself for just the same reason. It's too hot in the summer here to run topless (therefore cannot use the $99 C.RES) and I need to keep both the trail gear and the dogs safe. A soft top with the C.RES2 HD cargo netting looks good to me. I was also thinking of the Spider Web Shade 'TJShadeCage' as an alternative but I think the AZ sun would still burn through the mesh top making it really uncomfortable. On the other hand, if you live in gentler clime's... SpiderWebShade TJ-SHADECA - SpiderWebShade ShadeCage for 97-06 Jeep® Wrangler TJ - Quadratec

I bought nets from Raingler

Raingler Nets & Grips, Mesh Dog Barrier Nets

You need the 2 sides, and the 8 point one for sound bar to tailgate, or just a 6 point one without going all the way up to the sound bar. They don't interfere with any top. You can find another post about them with pictures of them... http://www.wranglerforum.com/f282/raingler-or-dirty-dog-cargo-nets-869801.html

I'd take a picture for you, but I just finished raptor lining my interior about 3 hours ago, and its still in the spray booth at my brothers shop, I'll have them back on on Tuesday, I'd be happy to post a picture once they're back if needed.

I would buy one from here :
https://www.jeepcargonet.com/

This place manufactures cargo nets for alot of companies that buy the nets, slap their name on it, and then jack up the price.
Just buy it from the manufacture direct at a fraction of the cost and be done.

For my Jeep (LJ) it costs $179.99 ...BUT... for the same exact net from a reputable vendor on the forum here it will set you back $269.99 for the EXACT same net.
I know this from first hand experience. I do not want to bash this vendor online as alot of people have good things to say about them. They did refund my money once I called the vendor out on it (privately) so I am satisfied with my resolution on it. They let a my cargo net slip out without removing the manufacture label and putting their own label on it.

I have a dirty dog cargo net. My soft top or even the old hard top goes over it like it isn't even there.

Motion-Tek and Dirty Dog are essentially the same type net system. I have the Motion-Tek and actually installed it while the complete soft top was on. It's heavy duty webbing, not vinyl soft top material like the original Smitty Bilt nets.
Thoughts on a medium size dog being able to slip under the net on the back seat sides?

TIA

Looking on the webpage, appears to be a gap.

You can Google "Aspen Cargo Netting" and you'll see the green ones under "images" form the other forum... A little too bright green for my 01 Sahara but might work for you. I'm thinking of the Brown set since I have a tan Spidershade, but can't seem to find pics of those. Also the review for Aspen wasn't that great in that particular thread, said the plastic buckles ended up breaking.

Anyone else vouch for Aspen? I really like The looks/warranty of Dirty Dog but the price of Aspen.

I'm running the Smittybilt CRES 2 HD nets and I'm happy with them. Bought them off Amazon for $107.

They even work with my windows installed on my frame less top.

I've never understood why someone hasn't made webbing in place of the plastic windows. So basically take your soft top rear window, remove the clear/tinted plastic and sew in webbing.
this would be for the rear, rear sides and even for the soft upper half doors.

This is the one I have, lot of work to put on and take off. Wish I would have got the one that you can have installed under the soft top like Drrosenrosen has. I have it to keep my dogs from jumping out. Not they ever wanted to when I had the top off, just that piece of mind I guess.
