Cat back?

Are there any disadvantages to a 2.5" cat back from a 2.25"? What is the standard? 2.25" or 2.5"?

standard id 2.25, i have the banks cat back and that is a 2.5, not much of an advantage, little hp gains and little mpg gains, does sound great though.
