catalytic converter has got to go

Everything is stock and rusty. I'm having some emissions problems and i got the engine code that theirs a catalytic deficiency bank #2... since i bought it used, (140,000 miles), and everything is stock, i'm using it as an excuse to replace the whole exhaust system. Put a new stainless steel header, new catalytic converter, and new muffler. It's time to start upgrading this jeep, and i thought i might as well start here.

i have a 2000 jeep wrangler sport, inline 6, 4.0L
looking to put a new header, catalytic converter, and also muffler. I have used quadratec.com to find stuff that's capable with my jeep, but I'm looking for your guy's opinions before i buy anything.

I'm definitely going to get everything stainless steel. Right now I'm stationed on the east coast so theirs lots of rust potential.

Running a straight pipe has crossed my mind but since the military can move me anywhere, i want it to almost at least every state legal of an emissions system.

thank you in advance to any who respond

Recall?

Jeep - Contact Us

Put in your vin to see if you qualify for a free cat like I did. I know some were recalled. My Jeep is a 98 and they fixed it last year.

My 2009 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited has 4 Catalytic Converters, 2 on each side. A muffler place wants to replace with 2, 1 on each side. Is that a good thing to do?

DavBTor, I think the Jeep warranty covers your stock cats for a long time, I wouldn't spend any money to void that warranty!

To the OP, if you are in the rustbelt I would check your skid plate bolts before you start anything. You might have a big project fixing rusted out nutserts before you can start on the exhaust.
