I mounted mine off my spare tire carrier on the back door. Keeps it from taking a hit.

I'm a big fan of the 'behind the tail light' antenna bracket. I got mine from TeraFlex, but other manufacturers also make one. I've used it on 4 TJs now and have been pleased every time.

Not the best picture, but it's what I have handy:

X2! Have had this on my Jeep for years. It also doubles as a flag holder when I go to the dunes.

Do you drill new holes for this or just take the tail light off slide it in and mount the bracket/tail light through the same holes?

You have to drill one hole through the tub. See the bolt above the tail light? In addition it uses the three screws that hold the tail light on.

Ah, cool. I'm debating the tail light or the back bumper. I want a 4 ft. Firestick so I'll probably do bumper but if I end up with a 3 foot I'll do tail light.

I ended up doing the 4' firestick with the TeraFlex tail light mount. I would definitely go with the 3' with that mount.

I used this simple bracket as mounted like so... I have a 3 footer and it fits in the garage real nice.. What I really like about this antenna is you dont have to set the SWR, it's pre set and non adjustable.. I get less than 1 on the SWR meter.

I have a 3 foot as well, but have to remove it to fit in the garage. This picture is a little deceiving but the antenna is definitely a few inches about the top.

Nope, can't be a Firestik cause Firestik would NEVER sell any antenna with the claim you ain't gotta set SWR, nor produce one where it can't be adjusted.

LOL, now CB radio antenna marketing has eclipsed radio Science!

Finding a pre tuned antenna that does not require SWR adjustment is as likely as getting below 1.1 on SWR meter. There is no such thang as below 1.1

It would actually be handy since I don't know how to tune an antenna or adjust a cb at all really.

Sure it would be handy, but it's impossible, so once again some antenna makers are claiming their antennas don't require tuning.....It's a bunch of marketing crap just like it was back in the '70s when it was first stated.

Trust me, it's as fake a claim as Postivac, or MaxusErectus and NoStinkusAnus

Pre-set SWR? Do they sell tires with the pressure pre-set? That would be handy......

When mounting the cb mount on the tub or spare tire carrier does anyone grind down the paint or anything? What kind if prep work did you do?

It's a firestick and yes it's non adjustable. I fight to get 1.5 on my CJ that has a 4 foot FS the fact is the 3 ft says to use a 18ft antenna cable so I did, and I have great results..

With the taillight mount, I did not grind away any paint on the tub. I did grind away the paint on the inside of all of the mounting holes for bolts and the antenna stud on the mount itself, and my SWR came out great. Coming up on the 1 year mark, gonna take off the light and mount and see if there's any corrosion, which was my main hangup with this mount and the reason it took me almost 5 years to work myself up to it.

Yeah. That's the main reason that I don't want to drill into my tub
