CEL On computer says "No Fault"

My CEL came on over the weekend, while I was out in the canyon near my apartment and I did the odometer trick to see what the error code was.

It goes through the whole check and then when it gets to the part where it displays the codes it just says "No Fault"

Anyone run in to this before?

I have an 02 TJ 4.0 5spd

sounds to me that your jeep doesn't know why it's on. try going to autozone and using their code reader to clear it.

Not all fault codes can/will be displayed in the odometer. Sounds like you need to hook up to a proper code-reading computer.

I have read several conflicting things about that on a couple different websites. There doesnt seem to be a consensus about that. Although the majority of the available info points to jeeps pre-2000 not having all the obd2 codes available through the odometer read out.

However, the fact that my read out says no fault and the CEL is still on leads me to believe otherwise.

Can you tell me where you got your information?

Chrysler's factory service manuals. They have charts which list every potential code that the computer can store. In the chart will be two columns: the code that shows up with a proper code scanner, and the code that can be displayed in the odometer. Sometimes there is a code in the first column but nothing in the second column, meaning that code cannot be read without a proper scan tool.

Sounds good, I had the oil changed and the light went out...the guys at the oil change place ran the code scanner and said there wasn't a read out.
