Changing AC Condensor

ordered a Condensor because my is leaking, going to change it myself what's your opinion on recharging / oil for ac unit afterwards? Unit is out of charge now....

DIY or take it after the change to a shop for recharge??

Depends if you have a vacuum pump or not. To do it right, the system needs to be evacuated before filling with refrigerant. My vote would be to take it to shop and let them do it but then I just forked out nearly $900 to let shop change out heater core, A/C evaporator core, and recharge.

Did it myself on my Cherokee, Saved myself about $600. Took about 5 hours, could have taken alot longer, luckily i didnt have to pull the whole dashboard out, only about half.

Needless to say, it was a huge pain in the a$$, but if you have a free day, its worth doing.


Also, i took it to the shop to have it recharged, although i have the tools to do it, i wanted to be sure, and they did it, then found another leak, fixed it quick and we were good to go. If you have a trusted shop i would advise going that route
