Hope you've got bigger sub-frame connectors than god on that thing...and a really good full cage. Otherwise that thing's gonna twist up like a pretzel. (it would look kinda neat, though...)

That'd definitively be a "Hey, hold my beer and watch this!" moment.

Somewhere, in a deep dark corner of the intertubes, there must be a video of that...

i noticed in the early days of this thread a long stream of guys talkin about all the things they spray with bed-liner on tgeir rigs. what about tire rims? i have chrome rims that i really dont like. if i spray them, what do i do to prep them? also, wouldnt they keep better? with all the snow (and resulting salt) here, chrome (and everything for that matter) tarnishes and rusts more. would the spray liner help the rims hold up better against the elements and such? also, how would they clean off? would it be difficult to clean mud/dirt off of them given the rough texture of spray liner?

just lookin for insight. thanks.

Bedliner and PlastiDip seem to be the two top choices for this.
I like PlastiDip. I've never painted rims with it but I have done my grill and a few other things.
It gives you a sort of flat, rubbery black and can be peeled off at any point. If it's sprayed right it's pretty tough.
As for prep, clean em good with something like a Brillo pad and wipe em down with acetone to remove any oily residue. The PlastiDip will stick well after that.
There's a thread on here somewhere all about the stuff.

When you say layers, do you mean spray, let sit for 5 min, spray and repeat or spray. Let sit till hard and spray repeat...

I think you leave it for about 15 mins then spray again. Should do about 4 to 5 coats.

Spray and let it dry for 5-10 min then spray another coat then let set then spray ect... the more layers the stronger it'll be.

I figured that since I haven't used the rear seats in my TJ in about 3 years...I should use the space. I had some spare wood laying around the garage from a previous project at the house and came up with this box. Didn't cost me a penny since it was all spare wood!!!

Several ways to do it, tape, vinyl sheeting, VHT Niteshade paint, I used Plastidip.
Just tape off and spray.

I think he left them on purpose. I can see where that could easily be lifted out and the rear seat dropped back in if he needed it.

That's exactly right. If need be, I can very easily take out the storage box and replace the seat

Wish my seat mounted like that cuz it would be cool to make a similar box out of steel but have a drawer instead of the flip up top, then you could remount the seat hardware to the top of the box and mount the seat on top of the drawer just an idea but id have those kind of seats, what year do they come in may try to get one and make this.
