Oh...and it was only $6 a can at Lowes...Took 5 cans (being generous) to do 5 wheels...Took about 4 hours to clean, dry, paint, and reinstall

I've owned my Jeep for about three months now. Got to know it pretty well and have done a number of mods and repairs. But today I found something I didn't think I had. I was prepping to install rock rails and found the Jeep "tool kit". Under the carpet next to the passenger seat is the handle for the stock jack. I have a hi-lift but don't like to carry it around town. So now I can actually change a tire.

Bed-lined inside of hardtop, in channel window vents, and de-badged. Tomorrow, bed-line wheels and take silver plastic covers off bumper.

Twist on 3rd brake light

I've been toying with the idea replacing the 3rd brake light set up since adding the tire carrier to my TJ a while ago. Most of the setups I've read on here wouldn't work for me because my center hub is already occupied and the tire covers up most of the rear window.

Anyway, found these 1 1/4" super bright LED marker lights on ebay. I beefed up the rubber grommet with an 1 1/2 rubber tubular brass slip joint washer and pressed them into the trim holes in the rim, then popped the lights in: Solid as a rock! (Just to be sure I hit some really rough and rocky trails yesterday to see if I could shake them loose - they didn't budge!)

I added a couple of waterproof quick disconnects on the back side of the rim so I can easily pop the lights out should I ever need to use the spare.

I originally thought about going with 4 lights, but glad I didn't. These suckers are bright!

Happy Trails!

over head CB rig

I wanted to set up a CB rig (i know it is old school). This is what I came up with.
I have my Texas Ranger CB and a backup camera display (with video from my headunit) I also have room for my first aid kit.

I have the camera set in the center of my spare wheel.

What is the big deal with a third break light. Is it illegal to have only 2 lights

In my country all new cars have to have a high level brake light. Pretty sure some US states are the same.

You are correct I believe 40+ of the states require a 3rd eye, and also a drivers side mirror.

If the vehicle came "stock" with the third brake light, you can fail inspection (in Massachusetts anyway) should they notice. As far as a drivers side mirror, that law has been around for many, many years and is actuallly a "moving violation" for which you can be stopped and cited.

Both of those things I have come to conclude that no cop will pull you over for those things BUT they will probably tack those charges onto your ticket

i think i figured out the pictures. this is the hard top off the jeep. didnt feel like throwing it back on today. im only showing 4 of the 6 here. i leave the front 2 bolts out normally just because they arent as easy to get to. when i put it back on for winter i'll throw all 6 back on.
