i did plasti-dip a month ago, when wheeling once and its already peeling but i really liked the look of the black fenders with my black Jeep so im going a step further and permanent with the bed-liner

just clean them really well, you can scuff them a little if you want. might help since bedliner isnt meant for plastic.

i guess its just the luck of the draw. I went trailing and found a small mud. when i took the Jeep to get washed the pressure washer stripped the plasti-dip off. Not completely but there where several spot where the it was noticeably coming off.

You can wipe them down with some mineral spirits if u want after you clean n sand, I haven't had any flaking or peeling with mine, been about four months so far. The bedliner really clings well from my experience with it.

Installed a gun rack in mine yesterday. About $100, so maybe not a cheap mod but not too expensive either. Well worth it for me, solved the problem of my guns laying around in the back seat.
That's the best mod I've seen in years, for me that is also the most useful, next to a 2" lift and the home made mounting stuff I see.

I washed with dish soap (to get any greasy residue off, scuffed up and wiped down with rubbing alcohol. It's been about 4-5 months and looks like the day I did it. I've washed it and had branches smack it on the trail........still fine.

I've taken all 4 of twice now. I'd just take them off.

Unless you feel like getting frustrated over something that should be easy I say tape them. It took me a while the first time I took them off because I didn't really know what I was doing.

I took the flares off so I could address any hidden rust issues while I was at it.

I have recently bed lined my fender flares, if that's what you are talking about. To prep these I removed them from the fenders, wiped them down with window cleaner, then sanded them with a 1500 grit paper. Wiped them down once more then sprayed on the Rustoleum bed liner. I would use two cans just so you can spray evenly and get a couple coats on each. Hope this is what you were looking for. Good luck!

Instead of taking them off. You can place index cards behind the fenders. It makes it easier to tape around the card and you get a clean edge

Would it be safe to put a coat on the area behind the wheel on the jeep?

Outstanding topic here. Great stuff. I haven't finished the whole thread from start to finish yet. Just wanted to post that 1.5" PVC makes a great (D-cell) MagLight holster to attach vertically to a roll bar.

Here's a couple of pics on how snugly a D-cell MagLight fits in 1.5" PVC. I cut mine to length and painted. Will mount tomorrow and post more pics.

Haven't mounted yet. Maybe zip tie.....maybe hose clamp. Paint is drying. Will mount tomorrow and post pics. Thinking hose clamp will be best.
