Went to Lowe's this morning. The clamps I got were too big, so I tried some zip ties. Actually works really well. Since the head of the flashlight is bigger diameter than the PVC pipe, it either needs to be at a slight angle to allow it to slide in, or there needs to be some sort of cushion between the pipe and roll bar. The zip ties allow a little bit of play to allow it to slide right in.

Removing that wrap was the best thing you could have done.

Think I might have to swing by Home Depot this week to check this mod out...

Looks great. Maybe a piece of velcro over the top so you're not hit by a mag light if your jeep ends up shiney side down? My other concern would be that you will be missing your flashlight as soon as you park somewhere with the top off?

Thanks, but I empty everything out of my Jeep every time I leave it. Stuff gets stolen way too often around these parts.

Looks good. My mag light sets on the floor in between the driver seat and the lip of the entry way. There is a little bump and the mag light "Locks" in as if it was made if it.

I would use 3/4" plywood for its strength

There was somebody on 1 of the forums I'm on that made plywood doors for wheeling. I'll see if I can find it

Best thread ever! I've read through the first 25 pages of this thread and I already have so many things I want to do

Today I went to Wally World and got some of the Rustolium spray on bed liner and did the trim around my headlights and my door handles. These are the first "mods" I've done to my Jeep, so I'm extra proud of them tonight

Headlight trim before.. Ugly chrome had to go.

The one on the left is untouched, this is what it looked like when it came off. The one of the right is washed and sanded.

My work area. Not sure if I got more on the trim or the parer lol

Finished product intalled back on the Jeep.

The door handles took a little bit longer since I had to mask off the area around them.

This is after they were painted. The masking tape seeped a little on the passenger door but the driver door came out alright.

All in all I had a fun day and everything turned out pretty good. I'm going to do my fenders and my side mirrors with the same stuff soon.

I see no problem with plywood doors. Absolutely go with 3/4". Anything less over a short time of vibrations & your efforts were a waste. Better yet use MDO or HDO (medium density or high density overlay). A much stronger material and looks better. Honestly if you are going this route your best bet would be to buy a sheet of diamond plate aluminum.. Be sure to reinforce at the hinges be it either large fender washers or better yet a metal flat stock material..

Found some very handy little straps at Wal-Mart while looking around for my next mod ideas, They're called "Rope Straps" or something like that, found them in the Marine/Boating section. They're basically the little velcro straps you use on wires/cables but bigger and beefy-er. I've used them for everything from DIY "Oh Sh-t" handles to holding handcuffs and mag pouches on my Flak; And I like to keep them around the grenades on my flak as an added security.... I will post pictures when Im back in my Room.

This isn't every model of soft top. Most models you can't.

yeah that nice and secure, and for the most part hidden. My mag light sits on the drivers side floor, my demolition hammer sits in that same space on the passenger side. That section is even raised slightly so if theres water in the tub or it rains they stay nice and dry.

Agreed 3/4 inch plywood and make sure its the treated wood that can get wet. or else youll be in trouble if you take your Jeep swimming.

Just a suggestion but I would cap the top of those doors with 1/2 round trim moulding to make it easier on the arm.

Or get some 3/4"+ heater hose, split it, and slide it over the top of the door. Agreed that you probably don't want a cut edge to rest your arm on...
