I like to do cheap easy fun things to my tj, I have seen alot out there, but lets put all of our ideas on one thread. We all know about supension, regearing and all of that stuff, but what about the little things, that are just creative. Like cb radio mounts, anything custome. I will start off with what I have done, no available pictures but I will get some up ASAP. Well i mounted my cb behind the center console, I also made custom "oh sh*t" grab handles from 550 cord. I also put a cb speaker in place of my ash tray. I plan on doing some work with ammo cans, I know alot of you guys are CREATIVE so lets see what you guys have done.

Third Brake Light

I had recently purchased a tire carrier and removed my factory third brake light, so to be legal or somewhat legal...I decided to take the center cap for the spare tire, cut the end off and mount a 3" LED light in the cap. The cap was slightly smaller than the rubber grommet for the light, so I used a razor blade and trimed a little of the excess rubber off the inside edge of the grommet so that it would fit snug in the cap. I then ran the wiring from the jeep to the light and allowed some extra wiring inside the cap so that if or when I have to use the spare, all I have to do is pull the light off the cap, unplug the light wiring and remove the tire and do the reverse to put bad tire back on.

I did the same thing a couple years ago!

Awesome lights. Different question now. Decided to name my jeep "Moose" and spray/airbrush a gold/black blended silhouette of a moose's head & antlers from above with the words "moose" making up the head on the hood. I'm going to use adhesive film I'll cut out in the design BUT I know the paint will stick to the film when I peel it. SO, and I'm wondering if anyone knows if this works if "Mastic" the paintable rubber paint if run along the edges will peel up the paint as well? Otherwise I'll have to spray that puppy and pull it wet, which is okay but I'd like a crisper finish.

To This:

All I did was scuff them up with some heavy sandpaper 180 grit, Put a few coats of self etching primer (primer for bare metal), then hit them with Duplicolor Engine enamel with ceramic. I would have used the caliper paint but they didnt have it in yellow.

So busy last few days, dont have pics of when I repainted the steering but, it just looks clean and black now... simple. as for the other mods I got into.

Did the clamp mod to my sway bar so it won't offcenter anymore. it kept doing it.

Relocated 3rd brake light... to center cap.

The wooden softball bat mod:

Dring reciever, I painted the pin for the Dring black the rest was powder coated, very nicely in fact. Also picked up a locking hitch pin which I painted. It was chrome :(

Added this box to hold my spare tools that dont go in one of my tool boxes, and whatever else I need to put in. Its kinda vintage looking and locks, pretty cool. I have it set up so the lit just pulls off the top instead of hinging. Cause I would have had to mount it higher for it to open.

Added a "WF" decal, no pics though.

I did a few other maintainence things, got measurements for the sliders I am gona build. and just took care of her. I think she liked the attention.

Only reason mines so shiny is cuz it's starting to be winter witch means rain and mud and it always comes off easier when you have a fresh coat of wax lol

That is awesome! Quick disconnects! And the shovel holder. I've been beating myself up wondering where to hang my axe and non folding shovel when "Hey, I have one of those shovels!" popped into my skull. Thanks for the idea. My axe is a fiskar with a plastic latching head sheath I'm going to clamp to the roll bar with a velcro lower down on the handle. Hadn't even thought about it until I saw that and went "Crap, just work with what you have darn it".
