Cheap mod I did yesterday was I used 3' velcro straps from Home Depot to mount a fire extinguisher and my 6 cell mag light to the roll cage. Works great!!

I hate to be a downer but that just sounds dangerous. I wouldnt want anything that heavy being held on with only a velcro strap. In an accident those could come off and cause serious injury. Maybe they wont, Maybe the velcro would hold, Maybe...

Latest cheap mod (free actually due a friend with spare diamond plate and all the tools).

A large G (Go DAWGS!) fashioned out of real diamondplate in place of a spare tire. I know I am taking a risk, but in 25 yrs of possessing a drivers license, I've never experienced a single flat.

why not trim the G to fit inside the spare wheel and just use longer studs to mount everything? just a thought but it looks good!

Sounds good, but spare was a small one that didn't even have the correct pattern to even fit on my hubs if needed. I really do to get a full size spare at some point.

You should make a third brake light to go inside the 'G'. The stock third brake light looks kinda goofy as-is. Just my opinion

tons of great ideas here fellas, bedlined my bezels, gas tank cover, and taped and painted my running lights, stole this idea from someone earlier in this thread, turned out pretty cool.

gonna check today to see if there would be a way to attach some of the gutter guard on the inside of my grill.

Nice! I was planning on doing that to my turn signals, but with the new Batman logo. I just haven't had the time to yet...

No...they're not the cheap ones with the adhesive on one side...I'm not dumb. They're the heavy duty one's that are 3' long and they're kinda like a belt. They're meant for bundling things together.

I took everything down cause I used the 2 for my maglight to bundle the top up when I put it down. And I had to take the fire extinguisher off because it was in the way of the top going down. When I put everything back up I'll take some pictures. Believe me, they're strong. I could rock the whole Jeep just by the fire extinguisher. That was my test because the last thing I wanted was for it to fall off going 70 down the freeway! I had it mounted on the angled part of the back roll bar. Did it when I had the hard top on. Took the hard top off, drove it around for a few days, then put the soft top on, and that's when I realized it was in the way.

Here's the link to the ones I used, though they don't list the size I have. Mine are 3' long x 2" wide. VELCRO® Brand All-Purpose Straps | Velcro

Thanks, I've been looking for these in-store because I hate buying stuff on-line. To impatient to wait for it. I have some already floating around.... but I can't find them. Guess I'll have to break down and buy them on-line since stores don't carry them anymore.

I like it. I was thinking of doing something like this, but with the Jolly Roger.... at least until I found some LED replacements.

That looks awesome. Could you pm me with details of how you did that? I tried going back looking for instructions and I can't find them.

Also does anyone know if it is illegal to paint your brake lights? I want to do this same kind of thing with the brake light over the tire mount. I don't know what I am going to do yet, but I want to put a word or phrase. Maybe my name. I dunno but I really like the idea of customizing your lights.

I put painters tape on the entire running light then I just printed off the logo the size that I wanted and taped it to the light. Traced edges with a straight edge and peeled off all tape minus the area I eventually wanted to show through. Sprayed it with 2 layers of bed liner, then removed remaining tape and tada!

maybe so, only took me about 20 minutes or so to wash lights, tape them up, and cut out design, then another 20 or so for 2 coats of bedliner. If all else fails the bedliner can be taken off with minimal effort. The bedliner also blocks out 95% of the light, doing it this way looks really nice at night!

I made some a few weeks ago. Had the BMX foot pegs from sons old bike. Got a 3/8 ibolt, 1.5" flat washer and 2" long 3/8 bolt with nut to tighten from inside. Put JBweld on one half that will go against Jeep so it doesn't fold backward. Sprayed with bedliner and doesn't rub the paint. Also just drop in from the top so they come in and out easy.

stole most of this mans ideas! the I bolt actually doesn't touch the paint, its close but doesn't touch. Used bike pegs (10$ from walmart) 3/8" I bolt, 3/8" 5.5" bolt and just added as many washers as I deemed necessary at the end. Took maybe 15 minutes minus the bed lining.

Dipped Rear Brake Light

So all the plasti dip ideas along with light customizations I decided to try and put my initials and wrangler forum username on my rear tire mount brake light. I think it came out pretty good. The edges didn't come out as clean as I wanted but I used a Q-tip, tweezers, and a toothpick to sharpen it up. I don't know what do you guys think? Special thanks to fakeelvis for his help. Couldn't have done it without you! Very much appreciated!

a piece of black vinyl would block out all the light as well. no need to tape anything off or remove the light. takes less than 2 minutes a side. comes off with a little heat. you will have better lines since its machine cut as well
