Dude, you could market something like that. Just this forum alone you could find some customers.

It's been a while since I've been on here... just got caught up on the last 50 or so pages. I have a few things I want to do over the next couple months. I am going to be adding some red color to my dash, adding a couple ammo cans to the rear wheel wells, and I'm finally going to be ordering my custom leather seat covers.

Over the winter I did add a locking under seat drawer and a steel glove box.

Tuffy under seat drawer
Smittybilt Glovebox
Both of them work great and are very secure!

for the underseat storage (i take it you have a flip up seat tj/lj), does it get in the way at all? the pics look like it sticks out a fair bit, and i have my seat all the way back. just wondering as im looking at getting one.

This is kind of a mod. I had a bike rack for my old sedan and was to cheap to buy an new one for the jeep. This is the result, it works surprisingly well.

Has anyone ever put round CJ style marker/turn signal lights in a TJ grill? Or seen them done? I am thinking about doing it and filling in the rectangular holes in my fenders.

Its a very common mod when putting in hi line fenders. If you Google jeep tj grill you should find a bunch of pictures of different lights replacing the turn signals

Here is mine with the JK turn signals. Besides cutting the holes, it was plug and play.

I keep my seat all the way back also. It sticks out more than I thought it would, but it doesn't get in the way at all. I don't even notice it when I'm driving and it doesn't interfere with the seat movement when flipping forward either.

The storage area is also a little smaller than I expected, but there is enough room to hold my Gerber multitool, sunglasses, and Ruger LC9 with holster while I'm at work and can't carry. It is too small however to hold a full sized handgun.

It is extremely secure. There is no way to get in it or remove it without some good power cutting tools if you don't have the key.

I'm glad I decided to watch this! I always try to get my top as flat as possible, but I've been doing it wrong for the last 1 1/2 years! I never thought to put the back portions on top before I took the top off. I always just stuck them back behind the seat.

It finally quit raining here for a couple days so I was able to put the top down. That one little detail makes a big difference. Not only is my top flatter by a little, but the trunk area is still useable!!

I got the besttop box for under my seat. Maybe i bolted it in wrong but my seat doesn't slide anymore. Fortunately I drive with it all the way back anyway, but it's kind of annoying always going to the passenger side to reach the back area or let the dogs in.

judging From the pics, the bestop one has a longer drawer though, and maybe slightly wider. The holster wouldn't fit but my Glock 21 .45 fits just fine and it's a full frame.

I will try to get pics if you want em.

I was looking at that box so if you could post a pic or two that would be cool.

Yeah, I looked at several before I decided on the Tuffy one. I chose it just because it didn't interfere with the seat movement. The only time I carry a full size handgun is when I open carry, and not anytime I have to leave my gun in my Jeep, which is usually only at work.

I did a set. Make sure you use a 2 1/8" hole saw to fit the 2" lights. Once you cut it's a bear to file them large enough for the light to fit if you use a 2" hole saw. Otherwise a pretty simple and cool upgrade.

Well whatever i did differently this time, the seat moves fine now.

Did you have to use a wobble extension to get the Tuffy in? The bestop one, I had to use one because it's so tight up against the seat rails. That was one of the biggest PITA installs I have had yet.

Anyways heres the pic. This is with driver seat all the way back, it sits pretty much flush with front of seat. For reference you can see the slider release handle there. Also thats a full set of 1/2 inch sockets for a length reference, didn't have time to go grab the pistola.

It's barely visible as it is, but if you slide the seat forward a bit when you get out, a crook would never see it.

Not a problem viper.

Material list
2 - Side mirrors from O'Reilly K Source Fit System™ RH057 - Replacement Mirror Head | O'Reilly Auto Parts
2 - 15" pieces of 3/8" round stock or allthread
8 - 3/8 nuts
8 - 3/8 flat washers
4 - 3/8" lock washers

I took the round stock and tapped both ends. For the mirror attachment end I tapped 1.5" and I can't remember how much I tapped for the hinge end I want to say it was about 4". If I had to do it over I would have just used allthread rather than tapping the round stock. I then used a vise and a cheater pipe to bend 5" of the round stock at a 90 degree angle. Use one nut all the way down the threads to act as a stop for the mirror end and the hingge connection. The mirrors have a stud out of the back of the mirrior and a bracket so you can bolt the mirror onto the round stock using 2 flat washers, 1 lock washer and a nut . I then bolted everything together, sanded the chrome dull, primer and few coats of rattle can black. Using the nut as a stop insert the long end into the top hinge and secure using 1 nut, 2 flat washers and 1 lock washer.

I would really stress using allthread unless you have experience cutting threads as some of my threads came out kinda rough.

The fabric paint works & looks good. My roll bar covers were faded. They look brand new. Cheap & easy! I took a pic of the faded & the newly painted.

thanks. Did you heat the bar while bending or did just the vice and cheater bar work out? I ask because i don't have a torch.

I didn't use a torch but I did have a 3' long cheater pipe. I took 2 blocks of wood and loosely set them in a vise. I then drilled a 5/16" hole centered where the two blocks meet. Loosen the vise and insert 5" of the round stock in this hole and tighten the pi$$ out of it. Then I took duct tape and wrapped the reaming round stock so the cheater pipe would fit snug. Turn up the death metal on the radio and get pumped up and let her rip. Make sure your vice is well anchored as it will take quite a bit of force.

Starting the bend is the hardest part but once you overcome the initial bend it will go from there.

You can get a torch for cheap, so I would say get urself a torch, it will make the bend much easier. Plus it's fun to burn/heat up shit, so you will have other uses for that torch!

Thank you for the comparison!

I was on the fence because it is almost impossible to find repalcement ones for an LJ. Bestop was like the only manufacturer of them and they stopped making them.

So looks like this will be my side project while I am bedlining the tub in a couple of weeks.
