I like to do cheap easy fun things to my tj, I have seen alot out there, but lets put all of our ideas on one thread. We all know about supension, regearing and all of that stuff, but what about the little things, that are just creative. Like cb radio mounts, anything custome. I will start off with what I have done, no available pictures but I will get some up ASAP. Well i mounted my cb behind the center console, I also made custom "oh sh*t" grab handles from 550 cord. I also put a cb speaker in place of my ash tray. I plan on doing some work with ammo cans, I know alot of you guys are CREATIVE so lets see what you guys have done.

I went to my bx, picked up some cheapo paint, sanded them, taped it off and sprayed away, i did it in flat black first, it looked horrible, so went gloss. Then i made a trip to walmart picked up some rattle can bedliner, sanded the door handles real good, taped off, sprayed, the bedliner surprisingly shot out real fast and long, i had to hold it pretty far away from the handles. looks great and feels good.

Took off my rear jugs yesterday and painted them with Krylon Fusion. They look brand new. :thumb:

Also took off the fronts with the intention of painting them. I did paint one and then decided I liked the look of them off. Ordered a set of TJ end caps from the local dealer for a little over $6. They will be here tomorrow. Better than the deal I found on Amazon cuz I didn't have to pay shipping.

Door Pin holders for under $1

Lots of folks like to take their doors off.... I haven't yet but will be...

Some buy the clips, some wire in toggles, some pull fuses, and some just pull the door pins and unhook them both...

I did the easiest and cheapest thing I could with what I had laying around.

(2) 1/4" wide hose clamps
(2) pieces of shim stock (very thin metal)

Push your door pin in and measure the distance (Don't be too accurate) and cut and bend your metal like so....

Tighten the hose clamp just enough to go around the door pin body with enough room to slide the metal over the pin and under the clamp, press-hold and tighten it up!!!

Now if you are worried about scuffing the paint, grab some electrical tape and wrap it tight.... DONE!!!!

Took all of 10 minutes!!!!

Good Idea, i think my fuse is out right now, but this is what i plan on doing.
1. Push in button, drill tiny hole(size of paper clip)
2. push button in, insert paper clip into hole( the rubbery paper clip) and boom goes the dynomite

I wouldn't drill into it.... there are 3 contacts that run inside the switch.... chances are you will hit em....

Just made a switch for the doors. It will replace the fuse and will allow you to turn the dome light / door pins on when you want them to work and off when you dont want. This was schemed up earlier today and built using scrap stuff I had laying around the house.

First I modified a few spade terminals to make them the size of the fuse ends. you can see in the picture how they looked before and after I modified them. They may need a little work to fit properly but Im at my desk and its really dark outside atm lol.

Second I crimped them onto the wires and connected it to a simple on off switch. This switch has the ability to light up (which I dont want) thats what the extra terminal on the bottom of the switch is for.

Next I will replace the fuse marked door/dome (bottom row, last fuse on the right on my TJ) With the modified spade terminals. Make sure these terminals dont touch each other or the dome lights will stay on. And now POOF! on off switch for your dome light.

P.S. If it makes you feel safer place a fuse on the "hot" wire from the fuse box. This is the side that tests power when the fuse is removed, I will be doing this but I dont have another fuse right now.

Enjoy!

This is amazing! im not sure if it will lead toany other problems or not but very cool.

IDK if wheeling hard will move the terminals around in the fuse box but its easier than pulling a fuse. And if they do move then it will be an easy fix. I will let you know how it holds up after this weekend.

It will not cause any permanent damage if you fuse that switch properly, then again it would only cause problems if there were a short in your doorpins or domelight (almost never lol)
