Yes, I know I also posted this in the "What I did to my TJ today" thread, but it's also a cheap, easy, creative mod, so here it goes:

I got real tired real quick of my bikini top flapping like a drum roll at highway speeds, so I made my own Top Prop. I can't take the credit, I saw this idea on another forum.

Rather than pay $40 to buy the only one on the market, I spent $12.70 on PVC at Home Depot.

2 X 2" tee fittings
2 X 2" to 3/4" reducer fittings
2 X 3/4" male adapters
1 X 3/4" PVC pipe, 10' length

I cut the tee fittings in half to allow them to "clamp" on to the roll bar. The i filed the edges smooth so they wouldn't cut into the roll bar cover. I put the 2 tee fittings on the roll bar, one on each side, and measured the distance between the drivers side fitting and the passenger side fitting. Then it was a little trial and error to cut the PVC pipe to the right length. The first attempt was too short, not enough pressure on the bikini top. The second piece was too long, couldn't get it in place. But after trimming it down to 39 1/2 inches, I think I found the sweet spot.

When installing it, I had to put the passenger side as far rearward as possible, and the drivers side as far forward as necessary. Then while pressing the center pipe upwards, I slid the fittings into place until the bar was parallel with the windshield and the crossbar. I guess I'll find out tonight on my drive into work if it works. If it does, I'm going to hit it with a couple coats of black Krylon.

Here it is installed.

Last night was the first time I rode with the bikini top installed. It flapped A LOT more than my soft top or my safari top.

I'm going to put this top prop in whenever I put the full soft top back on, it'll help with that flapping too.

What bikini top do you have on it? I've been looking for a bikini top because I have the same netting on the cage that you do and I was afraid that if I bought a bikini top they wouldn't work together.

Thanks! I used small D-rings also called Anchor shackles to hold the front handles to the roll bar. And the rears I just tied some creative knots to hold them in place. Remember "If you cant tie a knot, tie ALOT!"

Thank you very much I painted them myself with krylon fusion. Was cheap easy fun and creative lol. If you have more questions on how I did it just send me a pm I can explain there, or you can read one of the 60+ pages on this thread for the writeup >< cause I dont remember which one it was.

I have the Bestop Bikini. It works fine with the cargo net, you just have to put the cargo net on first, but don't snug the straps down until after the bikini is installed. It's pretty easy to figure out when you put them on together.

I don't know, I haven't driven on the highway yet. I will be heading to work in about an hour, 65 MPH for 30 miles. I'll post again later tonight.

You're welcome. And just FYI, the cargo net works fine with a safari top as well.

I made the PVC "Top Prop" about 2 years ago...works great. Painted it black and covered the pipe with foam pipe insulation. Makes it look more like the roll bar.

Also keep rain from puddling in the soft top.

I'm waiting for the paint to dry right now. I'm not too worried about the rain thing here in AZ, but I definitely love how it reduces the flapping.

Takes a little getting used to. Practice on small hills at first.
Mine might come up missing tomorrow, but for years, I've had mine mounted on the verticle bar next to the back seat, right in the open. No one has bothered it yet, and that's even with the top off most of the summers.

I have to agree. Tried one and it was terrible junk.

The only issue I have with the wireless is the inability to 'blip' the winch. It's delayed a bit but works like a charm for me.

So many pages of mods lmao. I have been following this thread since its birth and thought I had read every page. Apparently not lol. In my boredom I have been looking over the thread and I wonder how many of you have done most of these mods to your jeep? I know I have, I also know that when you add them up it doesnt turn out to be very cheap... Just more convenient cause the money is spread out. Anyways Happy Jeeping and hope some more new ideas come up so we can pilfer... err borrow them

Spray bed liner on door handles and grill
Flip sun visors so those stupid stickers arent showing, or just take them off.
rotate review mirror 180 degrees for better viewing front and rear
put carebeeners on seat tabs to make it easier to pull the seats forward
use eyebolts to hold down hardtop, makes for great tie down points or dog leash holder and whatever else
AMMO cans somewhere im not sure where, But i will be putting jumper cables, tow straps, gloves, miscellaneous tools, tire deflator first aid kit and other random stuff i think may be useful ( please give me some ideas on where to mount)
SHovel and Axe ( ideas on where to Mount)???
Rock/area lights underneath on either side of jeep ( anyone ever do this??)
Hand throttle
Hood louvers( this is a maybe, i have to think about it)
Round led flush tail lights ( i did alot of research on this and kinda know what to do, but i would still appreciate my fellow jeepers opinions and pictures)
OBA with Tank

This is all i can think of for now, i am hoping to be able to buy the more expensive stuff in a resonable amount of time, but there is no rush, none of this stuff is absolutely necessary. I would appreciate it alot if any of you guys have done any of this, also if you have any ideas and have not done, please post them up. I will post everything i do, im not an expert, so some of the stuff may look half ass, but i dont mind, my jeep isnt very pretty anyways.. the hole hood is dented in hmm anyways, Thanks Everyone
I did rock lights on my jeep one under Both doors and one that faces the front axel. It looks really cool at night just out wheeling. And helpful when doing work user your jeep. An the way that I pointe te front one I can have a spotter see where my tires are going if its a tricky spot. All I do I turn those on and turn off my headlights so not to blind them

Built a roll cage jack mount out of 14 ga. Sheet metal, muffler clamps and misc hardware for less than $10. I will have to get a handle isolator to minimize vibrations later, but it works for now!
