I took an old aluminum arrow removed the tip and drilled out the threads for the tip, then you slide it over you antenna, check to see if your antenna will need trimmed, mine did, it was no big deal because the aluminum arrow will act as an antenna as well, then you epoxy the arrow to the base of your antenna.
This is also really cool. Dunno how I missed this.

I need to do that, I'm starting to get a line in the paint on my hood from leaning it back. I haven't had the prop rod for years because the retainer clip broke off. great idea

My friend had a ford Taurus fagwagon. I sat backwards in the "trunk" / third row. It sucked because they put a lock/unlock button but never put a door handle on the inside of the tailgate so you had to have someone come let you out.

What was even better than that was laying up on the back dash of a Buick Riviera....

Remove panels, clean them with soap and water (I like Dawn), tape off the doors (top and bottom), wipe areas to be painted with acetone to remove any oily residue.
Spray 3-4 light coats of Krylon Fusion (I used red), after it dries scuff it with a Scotch Brite pad just enough to take the shine off of it, wipe it with a damp cloth, spray it with the Duplicolor. It took 3-4 coats to get a solid red.

It's only been a few weeks, but it's holding up fine so far.
Yeah let us know how it holds up I might steal your idea like I said before but I'm not going to do as much red

The ruber bumper goes into a hole in the hood. Mark the spot where you want it drill a hole in the hood and push pull and twist the bumper in place.
Pull out one of your 2 existing ones to see what I mean its easy.

Ive had my interior painted with the krylon fusion since october 2011 (about 6 months now) and its holding up great. This is my DD, I do take it off road, and I have 2 kids and a wife that like to ride in it any chance they get, so this thing gets used lol. Bottom line if you are considering doing it, just pull the trigger and do it, you will be happy you did.

I mounted a big ammo can for storage on the tailgate. The can is 18x12x6. decided to make it removable so I could have the space back if needed.

The most difficult part was ensuring the tailgate holes and the holes on the box worked out so 1) the tailgate mounts didnt hit the indented parts of the tailgate (inside and out) and 2) the ammo can has some angled supports that had to be out of the way of the mount studs. also ensuring the gate will close with the window bar in place.

I drilled the tailgate to accept some Riv-nuts, and with some all-tread and all-thread couplers created some 7/8" standoffs to there wouldn't be a rattle. then got some thumb nuts (everything was 1/4-20 threads) to secure it tight. If I want to take the can off, undo the thumb nuts, if I want the studs off the tailgate, I loosen the couplers (acting like a jam nut also) and unthread the all-thread and I am left with just flush riv-nuts.

A storage box that is attached when i want it our can be removed when I don't!

I also got some small plastic spring clips for my CB antenna. I have a quick disconnect and can't fit in the garage with the antenna and dont like it just floating around in the back of the jeep. I mounted three of them to the tub rail and now, when the antenna is not installed I have a secure, out of the way, place to store it.

after searching all the hardware stores and getting blank stares, and trying Grainger and Fastenal to get somewhat educated blank stares, I went online and got them from McMaster-Carr

I got both sizes of the number 12 black thermoplastic clips, the 1/2-5/8ths, and 5/8-7/8ths. I used the smaller ones on the antenna and the bigger one on the end with the quick disconnect by the corner. I also bought some of the number 9's on that page but they just didn't have the "clip" power I wanted. If I was ordering again i would get the smaller size also (the #11's) since the antenna size varies a bit due to the wire wrapping around it.

My antenna is a 3' and it takes up the complete space so probably wouldn't work for a 4' antenna

the link...

Aw man, you have no idea what you've missed. As the youngest of 5 I spent my entire childhood facing backwards in the "rumble" seat in the back of the 72 Ford and then 78 Buick wagons my parents had. TONS of awesome memories including massively long Monopoly matches in the back on family vacations. My oldest brother ALWAYS cheated too so it devolved into a shouting match that was quickly stopped by Dad yelling at us to "Shut up and watch for deer!" We still say that to each other and Pops has been gone for 17 years now.

But I suppose I would have traded it all in for a DVD entertainment system like my kids were lucky to enjoy over the past 10 years. Little bastardz lol.

Sigh.

I had to drill a pretty parge hole then pull the bumper through until the tap locks in.. took me about 15 min.. hardest part was measuring to make sure it was centered and actually in the proper spot.. tell you of all my mods this was the most satisfying .. to see my hood gentle bounce against my windshield.. so cool.. why didnt Jeep do this
