cheap lift... need help

hey, i have a 3 inch body lift and the 2 inch coil spacer lift running with all stock suspension. I fit my 35"s easy, but want a little more lift to complement the 35"s. I was thinking of 2 inch coil springs, but i dont want to have to buy a sye and the drive shaft. i was reading on a transfer case drop kit. Is that effiecent and safe and will it work with my setup because i will have 4 inches of suspension lift, and thats when usually people need a sye. and ide rather buy the t-case drop kit because its cheap. And i dont do much offroading any more. Also, what else do i need to buy for the 2 inch spring to work. like trac bars and controll arms? help me please.

If your thinking of getting some taller springs, you might need new shocks as well. A t-case drop is ok for a band-aid. It will solve the problem for a while but everything wears out at sometime. But if your looking for a full 4" of suspension, I'd go for a full kit. With 4" all the stock components become stretched and really weak. I'd look into a full kit first before adding just new springs.

at this point your better off buying a full 4" suspension kit that will include all the parts you need instead of buying all of it seperate and probably spending more money.

yep bigjeep is in the lead here. A whole kit is better and sometimes ends up being cheaper (+20 bucks for shipping on each item adds up to about a third the kit in the end that you could have avoided when getting the complete kit that is made to fit together) and way easier to install.

I personally am thinking of getting the rough country II kit but i still got a long time till the summer so i'm still searching

By the way what body spacer kit do you have? Who makes it and how did it fit?

no, u dont understand. i alread have 2 inches of lift and want to add another 2 by long springs. That would mean i have 4 inches of susp. lift in which a sye is required. buying a whole new kit is not an option. just want to know if t-case drop kit would work instead of a sye. and what else would i need. please list cheapest options. thanks

i dont know about my body lift. its 3 inches, and thats about all i know about it. came with the car

Off the top of my head, at the very least, I'd say you would need a trac bar relocation bracket, a drop pitman arm, longer brake cables, longer sway bar links, longer shocks, and a T-case drop preferably a SYE. Also with 4" of lift you are going to really mess up your suspension's geometry and will want longer controll arms as well. From the sound of it you are planning on buying a set of 2” lift springs. If you need all the afore mentioned items to make the lift work, you may as well buy a set of 4” lift springs as part of a kit and get rid of your budget boost. It should not cost any more than buying 2” springs and all of the other necessary items I listed earlier. I have a friend running an SOA conversion with a T-case drop on his YJ and said it does ok, but wants to upgrade to an SYE.

and were telling you that you need to get a full kit when you go with that much suspension lift. when you go that high its gonna throw other stuff out of wack and your gonna need other things which is why you should get a full kit.

a t-case drop is just a bandaid and isn't an efficient solution.

well, it will do for me, dont have much money for the sye. my neihbor just lifted his yj and is now bigger than me, so... i need to restore my manhood. hehe. thanks for the advice. really helped

Trying to be the big dog of the neighborhood?

A lift is something you don't want to cheap out on, But i can see you/the guy you bought from(?) already have (3" BL, 2" coil spacers), IMO save your money, remove all of that, and get a full suspesion kit...... Thats just my 2 cents.

yes it does, the higher the frame is away from the ground the more i can go without bottoming out. Thats when i usaully get stuck or get close to. But with my tires and with more clearance, that wont be a problem.

are you talking about nasty mud? cause i know six inches of lift on short arms would not outperform a 4" long arm.

just because it would have more lift doesn't mean it would be more capable. the 6 inch lift on short arms would have waaaay more pucker factor and the 4" would easily outperform it (even if it wasn't on longarm) because the tires could stay on the ground providing more traction

mud is a different story but mud is gay and it sucks (IMO, i know its tempting )

yeah, mud is the only thing here down in Miami, florida. and if im lucky, i can find a constuction site with big rock piles every once and a while.

Not allways the case.. I had a 3" short arm lift out flex a Re 5.5 long arm by 10 inches futher up the TRI ramp..lots of factors there but got a lot of.. "how the heck did he do that" looks.
