Cheap TJ Mods

I am working on a budget and i was wondering what can i put on my TJ that would make the most difference for less than $100? Doesn't matter if it improves offroad capability, power, gas mileage, inside, outside, I'm lookin for any suggestions

bedliner, remove the jugs, remove steps, paint flares, paint healight bezels, led taillights, led interior lighting... you could spend $100 just cleaning your tj... it will make a difference , spray the inside of the frame, degrease the engine bay, shampoo the carpet ... etc

These are all good suggestions, I've been leaning toward a throttle body spacer. Does anybody know what kind of performance those add, I'm running the 4.0

I've heard that a throttle body spacer doesn't do really anything for non carb engines. In my opinion I don't think it would be worth it

wit the 4.0 you wont notice any performance gains short of forced induction... its a fairly well designed enigine with a fairly free flowing intake and the exaust isn't terribly restrictice either

You could change your dash lights to LED's and a different color for less than fifty bucks.

You could just clean your throttle body. Just cleaned mine for the first time and noticed a big difference in rpm gain. But i do have a 99 and with how dirty it was I think this was the first time it was ever cleaned out.

I'm not a mechanic but I'm good with my hands. I would be interested in what it takes to clean a throttle body, or heck what to look for to see if it needs cleaned, I have a 97' and it idles a little rough and about 750 rpm, but it seem to run great.. Aprox 12 mpg.

It's super easy. Four bolts throttle body cleaner and a few electrical plugs to undo. There's a thread on here for it. If I can find it ill post it up for you.

Bedliner the whole jeep. Inside and out. Leave a little clear spot on the windshield about 12" in diameter so you can see where you are going.

hahaha just kidding. It wouldn't be safe. You would have to leave the side windows clear too.

Okay so while back I actually cleaned my throttlebody and that made a difference... But today I switched it out for a bored and honed 63 mm throttle body... WOW What a difference it made.. The best way to describe it is when you turn your AC on you know how your truck drags... After putting on the throttle body now my truck runs with the AC on like it did when I didn't have it on and it stepped up from feeling like it's dragging to when you step on the gas you feel the passing gear kick in and it just opens up and goes.. Now of course keeping in mind that jeeps are like people every single one of them different gearing ratios, spark plugs you run everything makes a difference in the jeep for my particular situation it made a big difference...

http://www.ebay.com/itm/111046625197...84.m1436.l2649

A little more than I wanted to pay but the shipping was really fast and I don't have to send my throttle body back if I don't want to But if I do they will give me another 50 bucks back..

I did find that out I put it in you can see the edge on one side loosened up bolt slid it over and it fits perfectly....

Thanks Rodentsniper! That's way cheaper than quadratec or 4wd hardware. Seller had great reviews too. I'm looking forward to getting one!
