Question Check Engine Light question

I went to look at an 05 today and it seemed like a solid car other than the fact that the check engline light was on. The seller said she had it into the dealer and they said it was just a fuse. Does this sound correct or should I steer away from this jeep?

Who would try to sell a vehicle with a MIL illuminated if all it took to fix it was a fuse? Maybe the dealer was fresh out of fuses.

Are you close enough to go back and look at it again? If so, you can pull the code yourself, post it up here or on google and find out what is wrong with it. If you really have an interest in buying this Jeep, it would be worth the effort.

If it is an 05, the key trick should spit out a code.

Whatever comes up, tell the seller that it needs a new transmission.
