Child Seat in a TJ

Hi Everyone,
I am looking to buy my first Wrangler and currently looking at 97 to 04 TJs. I have a 3 year old and I am wondering what others have done for installing a child seat in the rear seat. I have noticed that in 01, Jeep began installing the child seat lanyard attachement and in 04 the anchors are in the rear seat, however, the 04 model year market is pushing the limit of my Jeep budget. The child seat requires that if the seat belt is used it must be the racheting or lockable type. I have looked at a few TJs and they do not have this type of seat belt.
I was considering buying the rear seat from an 04 to 06 but they appear to be hard to come by.
Can some of you guys and gals let me know how you were able to overcome these issues?

Personally I shut the airbag off for the front passenger seat, and I put my kid up front with me. If you go that route be sure to check your state laws on that and absolutely make sure the airbag is off.

We take our kids too in our 97 TJ, almost 3, and 7. We got the new carseat that has a locking clip (which I think almost every carseat has). The locking clip hold the seatbelt tight. For 7 years old, we got the booster seat with the high back.

my 4 year old rides in the back, mine is an 01 and has the anchors, never had a problem with it. I sometimes put him in the front(w/ the carseat) and turn the airbag off. He loves it, the wife hates it

I attached the safety harness strap to the tie downs behind the back seat in the trunk.

Mine is a 98, the seatbelt holds it TIGHT, plus, I locked the upper part of the LATCH system to the tie downs behind the seat. My son is 2.5 and has been riding it in since born. I have a camo one in my Jeep, dont remember the style, but this is it.

My 3 year old loves the jeep. I have her in the back, in the middle of the seat. I have an 05, so the seat has the anchors for the latch style car seat attachment. this makes it easier to install. I've heard the car seat locking clip is actually safer and better though, so you should be fine using it that way with the seat belts of the rear seat

I have an 03 and it is equipped where the child seat clicks into the Jeeps rear seat plus a place for the anchor on the floor in the trunk area.

(Jake Blues):... hit it ...

I have an '01 and do the same as arcountryboy with same results. The Jeep has the tightest fit out of all our vehicles with the latch system(nissan, bmw, Jeep Compass). 2 year old grandson loves riding in the Jeep as he can see out the windows easily.
