Choosing the right shocks, unknown lift.

Well It's clearly time for new shocks but I don't know which ones to get. My jeep is primarily an off-roader and sees very little pavment, just around town really. Also we really beat her up on the trail which is why my current shocks are leaking all over the place. Any suggestions on brand/model would be much appreciated. Also I dont know what size lift is on my TJ. Do I need to know this before ordering my shocks? How do I find out?

Thanks.

I have heard great things about Blisten but dont have any experience with them. Im fairly certain you need to know the lift height. I have seen a chart on WF that has coil length vs. Lift, Ill try to find it. Im sure others will give you better info than I.

Well hopefully the person that did the lift put the correct length shocks on.

IF that's the case you can simply measure the shocks you have now and shop for some new ones.

Best to confirm. Take some pics of the suspension and post em up and I'm certain that someone here can ID the lift type and height.

I found the chart, according to that it's a 4" lift but I'll take some pics and see what you all think. As far as I know the jeep was originally built by Select Jeeps of TX but when I contacted them they were the opposite of helpful. I'll be back in a few with some pics!

The chart says to measure the coil length but what about the spacers on top of the coils? should they count too? then it would be a 6" according to the chart. (because a chart on the internet has got to be the gods honest truth) Ha ha ha.

I have a 5.5" Rubicon Express lift and before I put the Kings on it I had 2.0 Fox racing shocks with a piggy back resi.I ran them pretty hard in the desert and loved them. You can find them for 185$ each they are totaly rebuildable and the kits are 24$ each and 45$ to replace a shaft. If you order them the store can tell you the length you need.I sold mine and made my own mounts for the new shocks so I dont have the length.
