chrome rims

I bought my tj about a month ago and it came with chrome rims (16" 32's). I need opinions...do they have to go?

My personal opinion. Not fond of chrome rims...But those aren't the worst i've seen...If you do the right prep work and wanna save some cabbage, you could paint them (black)

EDIT: Remember tho, it's your Jeep, do whatever the hell you want with it, as long as YOU like it!

x2 If you like them, then keep them. If you don't, then do something about it. It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. Unless of course you go putting every chrome flammywhammer that Autozone has on your Jeep If you do that, the ninjas will strike when you least expect it...

Those don't look bad, and there's nothing wrong with chrome if you like it on your jeep.

I'd say there's better ways to spend the money that new rims would cost.

If YOU like them, KEEP them!
When and IF you get tired of them or they get torn up on the trails then they'd look great with a few coats of semi gloss black on them too.
Those aren't a bad looking wheel at all, would look a whole lot better stuffed in the middle of a set of 35's though!

Thanks for the input. I think I'll go nuts on the trail and look foward to painting them.

Mine used to be all pretty and shiny, then they got some pretty good rock rash and I finally painted them this summer.

I actually like them a lot better all black. Man did I take a ribbing from the guys when they were shiny though, you should have heard all the carp they said. I took it with a grin and a shrug though.

If it takes polishing or constant re-painting, I'm not interested.

There's just something about the Jeep whose basic body design and shape dates back to WWII that begs not to have trendy wheels installed onto it. Mitsubishis, Hondas, etc. yes... but not the Jeep.

I,too had Mooneyes on my vehicles!I can appreciate most any vehicle,PROVIDED that it is TASTEFULLY done! With that being said,I totally agree that trendy wheels look horrible on most every vehicle I have ever seen.Case in point-I had a late 90's Crown Victoria pull up beside me at a redlight, with 28" gaudy chrome wheels, and decals all over it bragging about it.Through all my laughter,I realized that this car was TALLER than my Jeep!Things such as that are tacky beyond belief, and my position on chrome on a Jeep has been stated multiple times on here-The only chrome that should even be around any Jeep is on the wrenches in the toolbox!Chrome won't get you home, and is far better suited for Cadillacs,Buicks, and old classic cars!If I could figure out a good way to do it,I would install 16.5" Military wheels on my Jeep, and leave them olive drab!CHROME SUCKS!
