And a few months later...

Headlight bezels - black; grill inserts - black; front bumper - black; door handles - black; soft top - black...and black wheels are coming!

For me I dont mind chrome if its on the right parts. But for the majority I prefer black. I have silver alum rims on my jeep atm as they were when I bought it. I was thinking of selling them but decided to keep them and keep some BFG all terrains on them. When I move back home to Washington state I will get some black rims with some mud treds on them. Keep the silvers for summer cruising.

Bumpers and all that stuff should be black imo.

On my jeep I have gloss, satin, flat, semi-flat, and high heat header black. So my vote is for black.

Black! Replaced headlight bezels with black ones and now have to get the nerve to start spraying my wheels so they can be black too. No chrome here!!

Chrome is for old chevy's and harley's. Lot of time and effort to make them look nice but don't scratch em up for god's sake.

Blow a coat of krylon on it, wheel the damn thing and re-paint to keep the rust at bay.

If it's a highway vehicle and gets washed and polished in the driveway and you like that, then chrome it up and it's all good.

The only chrome color on a Jeep should be stainless steel otherwise it should be black.

I wonder how much of the opinions coincide with age? I'm 49 and prefer some chrome on my black Jeep. It seems like the younger people prefer the more blacked out or murdered look. WHAT DO YOU ALL THINK???

I personally like the black and chrome look on my TJ. I plan to add more chrome as my funds will allow. As a student in art class I picked up alot on contrast and accents that many people may not notice. Is chrome for evey Jeep? Hellz no. But I think mine is coming along very nicely and get compliments DAILY on how nice my TJ looks. I am very happy with my decision. Now on the flipside if I were building a rock crawler I would stay as far away from chrome as possible.

Just remember this guys. We love jeeps because for the most part they can do ANYTHING. That includes crawling over tough terrain, AND the floor of any car show if thats what the owner desires. Its all in what YOU want with YOUR Jeep.

You've got a great looking Jeep. Lose the 1988 chrome tube bumper and the "Nerf" bars and it would be even better.

Nope, I'm right there with ya' and I have already stated my opinion. My husband on the other hand is younger and likes a bit of chrome... I think really it's just personal taste. But then you know, some people like Obama, and Brussels sprouts too......

I went through my chrome stage on my first vehicle... I had chrome American Racing Jammer II wheels, brushed aluminum 3rd brakelight, euro tails, brushed aluminum gas door, etc.

...and I realized just how goofy it looked when a few friends commented on how chrome really just doesn't accent a vehicle in a positive way (aside from wheels). Now I try to color match things. You can make them look good...and they don't stick out like a sore thumb...or like you're begging for attention.

The only thing I wouldn't mind chrome on a Jeep would be the wheels... but then you've got a crapload of maintenance to do on them every month or two to keep them shiny and oxidation free.

My patriot blue tj looked way better after spraying the headlight bezels black. Next to go are my alum wheels for some black steels. every thing else will be black. Including the hinges when I replace them all will be stainless painted or powder coated black.
probly bed liner black for everything I put on.

No need to spend money on replacing the grill when you can just buy a rattle can of KRYLON Fusion Satin Black paint. Dries in 15 min and your good to go.
