I had black chrome wheels on my yukon and were awesome (a little gangsta for a soccer mom but oh well) because I had dark tint and the yukon was charcoal grey. I would not but 2k rims on a jeep sorry. anywasy here is my cj before I killed it. everything that was addd to it was black ..even the full rollcage rhino coat on the interior and the three tuffy boxes and soundbar..

I believe Jeeps were made to be a utilitarian vehicle. That is why the first was built in a garage then presented to the military. No chrome, no flare, just raw endurance. When the CJ series came out people were familiar with them because of the military and knew what they were capable of. They were then used in farms, back country and putting around. Still very simple with crappy gas milage.
Now that a few generations have past, society in cities have forgotten what a REAL man is, does, and is capable of coining him a "metro sexual". They have also tried doing that to the jeep by turning it and other "off road" vehicles into metro sexual vehicles by making them plush, comfortable and pretty.
I, like others on this page, am a REAL man who likes to play in the dirt, bleed a little, drink some beer and brag about scars while still happy to drive my utilitarian Jeep. I will still take her into the hills and find her limits so the metro sexual vehicles can bask in the glow and awe whilst bragging to the Jones's their Jeep can do that too. It's just ................... They don't want to get their chrome dirty.

Like the black chrome idea. I really put it there in the first place to prevent stone chips. That's also why the bra. I happen to like bras and have spent most of my life trying to get into as many as I can.

I love pictures that have been censored. I feel like I am twelve again and not supposed to see what is behind the naughty black bar.

Sounds uncomfortable to me.... My jeep is also a "she" but she prefers to go braless...

Who says guys who like chrome are afraid to get it dirty?? It comes clean too ya know!! Even Jeeps need bathes sometimes. And I for one prefer my vehicle to be clean. Kinda like myself. I can get dirty and greasy and downright nasty and have fun while doing it. Afterwards its time to hit the showers. Tho I guess some guys (and I have met a few) don't care much for them...

I am a firm believer in black, but I like the way my polished alum. wheels look. Anything other than that has to be black, I'm painting my headlight bezels soon.

I concur I prefer silver wheels, NOT CHROME, but SILVER...brushed alum is my favorite wheel finish.

Nothing prettier than a nicely polished aluminum wheel.... Such a better color than chrome. But..... There's all that polishing to keep them looking good.....

Ahh, no worries. based on my background there is a significant difference.

But if we are talking silver things vs Black things, then it depends on the use.

For example, the thing to have on a jeep is black wheels. I personally think black wheels are bland. I like a little silver to break things up. (simple 5 star silver wheels hold a special place in my heart.).

The current trend amongst Lotus Elise/Exige owners is to get their wheels powder coated black. Again I find it bland. I prefer gunmetal on most colors. Why gunmetal vs silver? simple. brake dust. racing pads generate a decent amount of dust, and silver wheels turn gunmetal rather quickly. so I'd rather just start with Gunmetal.

Hinges, and other parts that people love to chrome, I hate. I say leave them OEM color.

My Grille mesh is SS i believe (its shiny, but I don't clean it, so that keeps the shine at a minimum.) Its like $300.00 from Quadratec, why someone would spend this much on this I have no idea, but I can't bring myself to paint it. And it accentuates the grille pattern of a Jeep, so It stays silver. The headlight rings were silver, and ugly, so they are now black.

My personal preference of silver vs Black depends on the item at hand.

I never said I hated chrome or anything else shiny.... I am a woman after all..
I just don't think chrome belongs on a Wrangler... There's a place for everything, and most things are good in moderation. Thank you for the compliment on my Jeep, as I've mentioned, it even has a tiny bit of chrome on it... the center caps and lugs, to keep the husband happy... (sigh)!

Smile chrome

Come on now what is wrong with a little bit of chrome as long as it is done tastefully. Not all people want black. It seems to me that half the black wants people to think they go wheelin every day when they dont and some that probly never will. Its a two sided poll so there is no correct way to say except for personal taste and personal taste will always be what you want and not any body else.
