i drive a BLACK jk, with CHROME around the grill slats and mirrors, and to be honest, i really like it. I've seen the same version of my jeep without the chrome and it just doesnt look as good.

I think that some chrome is okay but you can go too far with it. I have chrome side steps, gas cover, and a grille guard but the bumper ic black. I also have polished stainless steel and black wheels too but no more chrome for me. Everything else will be black. And no I do take my Jeep offroading too so its not just for looks

I've never been a fan of chrome so I'm going with the majority of the responses: black! Currently I have aluminum wheels on an all black Jeep but those will be replaced with black wheels as soon as the funds allow.

Anyone have a pic of a red jeep with black headlight bevels? I was gonna go chrome, but like the idea of black. Would like to see how it looks.

Well, I must say. The more I look at my dark blue Jeep the more I think Black would look good on it. Just not the wheels. I love my brushed Alum!

Welcome to the "Dark Side"!

Let us know how much you love them after a few years of polishing... Oh, and I highly recommend Mother's Billet polish... Don't go near 'em with any spray on wheel cleaner... if you really like them.

Yeah, That's what I use on them Inferno. Mothers and a Power-ball on the end of a high-speed drill. I would have the strongest hands in the world if I never invested in that Power-ball. That thing is worth it's weight!!!

I looked at one of those yesterday. It really is worth the $25? If so, I'll pony up. My wheels looked so nice when I first got them. I don't give them ANY love at all and now they're oxidized. Here's a pic of how they look now....

I was kicking around the idea of getting them powdercoated satin black. Any opinions?

Try it by hand first Cavey, start with the Mag polish and move up to the Billet. I've also heard good things about Flitz polish, never used it tho'. If the hands start yelling, then step up to the powerball.. I think it might be good for final polishing, but I'm not sure how well it'll work to get the initial crud off once they get to that point.

Flitz is good stuff. I use it on guns.

Powerball is good for wheels as long as they don't have sharp edges...a buddy tried it on wheels w/ sharp edges and it looked like a dog got ahold of the powerball....red pieces everywhere.

Mothers + PowerBall + Time = Just like new!

Here is my opinion. Your wheels look way to pricey to cover with a powder coat! I bet those looked really sweet when they were newer.

If you don't have the time to keep up with cleaning them here is what you need to do.

Take a weekend, shine them up real good and then sell them for like $400. Then buy brand new black wheels, and prob have $ left over...

I think your Jeep looks sweet the way you have it set-up now however.

Powercoat is big bucks (comparatively speaking).

Buff them out or if you want a color change, get a couple of 3M pads, rough them up really good, some self etching primer and then a couple coats of black wheel paint.

Easy to do and to touch up when necessary.

Your wheels could come out like this: (well, minus the lock rings).

That's why she drives a mini-van.

Did you paint the rims before or after mounting the tires? Feel like they would get scratched real easy.

Wheels look great Larry, but you might want to think about installing your lugnuts before going anywhere.......
