Ya check behind the glove box like Jcole mentioned. I had the same issue and the fuse was located here. I am just not sure what number it was.

The diagram is actually on your glove box and not on the fuse panel. It's likely the fuse. Just replaced mine and poof... it works.

Also, make sure key is in on position while testing lighter.

I have a 97 wrangler and the fuse is in the engine compartment in front of the battery. It's one of the large fuses... I can't remember the exact one. I blew this fuse after putting a new lighter in the jeep.... it must have been stuck in the "on" position or something... replaced the fuse and has been working properly for two months now.

My fuse panel doesn't look like that. All the spots on the far left say spare. None of them say cig. lighter.

make that 2. i asked this same question and caught crap for smokeing. mine didn't come with the lighter element so i bought a replacement that kept popping the fuse. figured it was just a power outlet-that was almost a yr ago. low and behold, came across it in the FSM and did a little reading. it comes from the factory 1 way-if you get the 'optional' lighter, the dealer pops off the cap and inserts the element(wonder what that option cost at the time)
anyhow, was down to 2 fuses, even checked em under the hood, and pushed it in and watched the fuse spark. 1 to go-so i went and got the lighter out of my pickup, checked to see if it fit(did) turned on the key and pushed it in-we had fire. the damn new one(for chrysler) from adv auto was bad all this time.
now i can go topless and smokein
really should quit-wife did over a yr now

Thanks for reminding me. I think I pulled that fuse and used it something else. Gonna have to replace it. Phone won't charge!

Had a similar issue. No power to the cigar lighter. My diagram behind the glove box does not have a spot for the cigar lighter. #18 is a spare. #19 is also a spare but had a 20amp fuse in it. I checked it and it was blown. I put another 20amp in there and tried to use the lighter. Nothing! So I checked the fuse and the new one was blown. I figured maybe a bad lighter as the spring action was worn out. Put another fuse in and just checked to see if my phone charger worked. Bingo! Now I have power to the plug. Going to throw the lighter away. I usually bring my own lighter if I am going to smoke a stogie anyway.

Just thought I would update this thread because of the location of my fuse which does not seem to be standard.
