I realize my TJ isn't extremely muddy but the JK next to me couldn't be cleaner, I feel like that's how they all are

Maybe because they are newer? I keep all my vehicles clean. Same as my guns, fishing poles, lawn mowers, etc. I suppose there are those that like to ride around in Jeeps and other 4wd vehicles covered in mud and slinging it everywhere. I'm not one of them. Love getting them dirty, but clean it when I'm done.

I don't leave the dirt and mud on my TJ either but after I wash it and wax it, it doesn't stay that way for long

Same here. But, we do not see much mud around these parts. Lots of dirt and dust. Hard to keep a vehicle clean riding around on ranch roads.

For me as a JK owner, its all about pride of ownership. I love my Jeep and I would feel like I was neglecting it if I left it muddy all the time. Its how I was raised.

I clean my guns regularly, even if they haven't been shot. I don't want them to start to rust. Sometimes tearing down a semi auto and cleaning it is almost as much fun as shooting it. Gotta keep 'em "well regulated" and in proper working order...

Let's please not turn this into a JK bashing thread but I can think of 2 reasons for clean JKs
  1. They are newer and people tend to take care of vehicles more for the first few years of it's life.
  2. Yes, many of them are owned by "Soccer Moms" and people that treat them like any other SUV.
Not all JKs stay clean, in fact I can't remember the last time I washed mine.

Every JK around me is a pavement princess which is fine, I was wondering if there are JK owners out there who aren't afraid to throw some mud and dirt around

it's simple: newer, more expensive = owner care is higher.

don't sweat it, just keep your TJ cleaner than anything you encounter. I do.

I hope you still have that tan top, because your jeep looks AMAZING with it on

My buddy that I wheel with recently bought a 2013 wrangler sport. It has not been clean since. He uses his Jeep exactly what it was designed for. He was out wheeling it hard the day he bought it

Oops, I posted the wrong pic.

You know, I didn't notice until you pointed it out but it's been photoshopped. I had a friend do it for me because I am thinking about getting a tan top (I think they make them)

I mean the black looks good, but the tan really ties the military look up.

My JK is new but it will spend plenty of time in the mud. Just like my CJ 7 and CJ 5 do. When I was young and stupid I left mud on mine for over a month. Not sure where BigCook is riding to think they are driven by pavement princesses. There are a lot of capable and well used JKs out there.

My TJ cost me $13,000+. If I could afford a JK, I could afford the car wash.

What is with you guys and mud? What if you live in a western state where it never rains and there is no mud? Personally, being an actual grownup, I try to stay out of mud by going around it whenever possible.

A clean Jeep is a happy Jeep. When my Jeep is happy, I am happy.

Around here the majority of the Jeeps that are wheeled are Tjs or XJs..however there are some built and wheeled JKs...however most of them are the "older ones" prior to '12 and the new motor. I have seen some at a local DAV Benefit that started the day looking showroom/ 4wd shop new(Mods) and ended very muddy

I know a JK guy that won't take his doors off & watched TJ guy lock his half doors. Does it matter? Who cares what they do with them.

Agree. I have a few friends with JK's. And though I give them crap, they throw it back at me lol. We all have a Jeep

Why wouldn't you lock your half doors?

Mine, when they are on, I lock them so they cannot be (as easily) stolen, the front pins are locked as well. Makes sense to me. ??

Nobody cares if you get your Jeeps muddy. I do not think it a testament to manhood.

If your TJ's a daily driver and you work in a business environment, it's hard to get in-and-out of a dirty TJ without getting dirt on your clothes.
