The 97 TJ with a manual transmission I have is the first Jeep I have ever owned, it is also the only one I had ever driven until today. A good friend bought a 98 today, also with a manual transmission, and let me drive it. My clutch has quite a bit more resistance as I push it to the floor than his. I felt like I was stomping the floorboard each time I shifted. Also, when shifting his gearshift, there is also little resistance between gears and a definate feel to each gear as the lever is moved into position. My gearshift feels like you are "pushing" it into each gear. It is hard to describe. I have never had a problem of my transmission slipping out of gear or anything and I really haven't had any problems to complain about, it's just that now that I have something to compare it to I realize that there is a huge difference. What is "normal" if there is a "normal" or is it common to have these differences?
