coil lift and coil spacers

i was thinking of doing a 2 inch rustys coil lift with a set of 2 inch spacers. besides having to get longer shocks would i need anything else. Like a transefer case drop or new control arms?

YES, you will need everything that comes in a 4" lift kit except the springs. Relocation brackets, bump stops, control arms, T-case drop, pitman arm, ect, ect... Do yourself a favor and just buy a kit. You get what you pay for. Strearing geometry and driveline angle must be compensated for every inch of lift you do.

just buy a 4 inch lift from rough country, Its the cheapest and works good. I run it. It will actually be cheaper than buying the 2 inch lift kit and the spacers, and then buying everything else to make the spacer work.

Get Rusty's 3" Budget Boost instead and add a 1"BL.

Go with Rubicon Express, Rusty's or other quality system that includes new adjustible trackbars and control arms. You'll never regret it.

I my self am thinking of a rough country 4 too. I'd like it more if they had a 3" but oh well.. Upinar what rough coutry do you have?

Im am running the regular 4" inch rough country lift. Not the x-series. Kit was super easy to install. A couple hours and it was all in, but i have experience and the tools but it should take u more than 4 hours. Simply instuctions came with it to. got it shipped to my door for 520. Check ebay, ebay has some pretty good prices, that can explain why i bought my jeep, winch , lift kit, lights, tires, and onboard air system and everything else on ebay. Ebay is almost as good as wal-mart.

Thanks Upinar i got trust in you man honestly that list of yours makes me jelous I'm just wondering whats the point of adjustable control arms though? I know the longer the control arms the better but you also have to move the ¿holder blocks¿ so i'm just a bit confused My explanation is since the longer the springs and the shocks, the longer the arms have to be to make up for the height but i'm hoping to hear a better explanation..

rear lowers set the wheelbase and the uppers set the pinion angle.

isnt one of the dangers with high lift that the driveshaft may pull out or something of that kind? I remember reading something here of that sort..

if you have 4 inches of suspension lift or more without a sye the driveshaft becomes short enough to where it can pull out or jam in the tcase.

Thats what i was thinking about. Thanks now i'm at much better shape in understanding it. I my self am thinking of tranny drop when i get a lift and call it done for that time and then sometime i'll get a sye and cv I hear motor mount lift is also really good but that will just help tug on the tranny and puling it even further up and forward so in the end its actually worse correct?

well, i know everyones gonna argue with me on this one. But i have 6.25 inch on suspension and i dont have a sye. When i put in the 4 inch lift kit, the tranny drop kit was enough to get rid of vibes. Then when i put the coil spacers back in, the vibes started, then i put in a 1 inch motor mount lift. then no vibes what so ever. I drive my jeep every day after an intense beating over the weekend. I rag on the jeep pretty hard, Ive gotten the back wheels in the air cause i hit a mud hole way to fast and the front dug. Ive bent control arm brackets and control arms. Ive even broke the balancer off the driveshaft. But havent had any problems with the driveshaft or transfer case. Yes, my pinion angle is a bit steep, but my output shaft is parrallel. No vibes what so ever at any speed. If something could happen to the transfercase cause of not having a sye. im sure it would of happened already. But thats just my jeep, every jeep is different. The funny thing is that i do every thing to my jeep that people say not to do.

Tomorrow morning, I'm getting ready to install a 2.5 inch Skyjacker coil spring lift with Skyjacker shocks. i would suggest making a new thread!
i just read that whle thing and ur ? has nothing to do with it

but...... you shouldnt need anyhtign else wiht only 2.5" of lift, you may need to add a few washers to the t case to drop it, you may need bumpstops, but only if you ride disconnected and are pushing your jeep to the max
and lastly idk what the wheels are, but fi they're stock then it wont have enough Backspacing for then 32's, get some 15X8's with like 4 BS, or 3.75BS

or osme 1.25 in wheel sapcers if you like what your current wheels look like

The whole backspacing thing still comfuses me. All I know is the wheels I got now don't cause me any problems and I guess that's all that matters.

from what the guys tell me that I let work on my jeep (which trust me theres only 2 ppl I let touch my jeep thats why I travel about an hour to get work done) when I was ordering my 35's n gears/locker i asked them If I should raise the motor.... there response was that its not a complete fix from getting the sye and cv and in there opinion is a bad idea to raise the heaviest part of something with already little center of gravity. they had some analogy i forgot to also to go along with their opinions....just something to think about

(warning: this is an opinion im sharing i dont want to hear im telling you the wrong info ITS AN OPINION)

well if you cant swing SYE/CV i think its fine to get a mml, but otoh, hes already looking at 4" of lift and then you would need 1" of BL to clear the mml
is there any 3" lift that is comprable to what hes talking about in price, then add the mml and BL, this way you eliminate DL vibes,and the engine gets raised the exact same amount as it would if he got 4" of susp. lift

if you get the 3" rusty basic lift you get all the thigns you need in one package and the 1"mml and BL for a very good price of $100 so the total would be $150 more, for the same amount of lift, more componenants you would need anyway, and a mml to eliminate vibes the cheap way!

They're called 'Ecco's. you can probably do a little googling and find out, but measuring is pretty easy too I suppose.
