colors

A car's color is the first thing a person notices when they see a car.

What's your favorite/preferred color(s) on your Jeep? Is there a reason for you liking this color so much?

Also are there any colors that are hard to maintain?

When we bought ours new, we saw the shale green and that was the color for us. It has a bit of sparkle and hides dirt and scratches well. Been super durable since 2002. And no clear coat issues or paint bubble up.

Worst vehicle is definitely black, when it is clean and shined up it is a beautiful sight for about 15 minutes. Shows dirt easily and scratches stand out like a sore thumb

Black Box - Product

I'm a big fan of that stuff... works great. I don't use all the other fancy stuff in that link- just the black wax by itself.

I have a love-hate relationship with black. I had a black car before my Jeep and swore I'd never buy a black vehicle again. I couldn't help myself though, and bought a black Jeep. It's a pain to keep clean, that is for sure.

While we're on the subject of colors... What are everyone's opinions on black wheels on a black Jeep? I'm looking to upgrade from stock. I really like the MT Sidebiters, but am thinking it may be a bit much black. On the other hand, I'm not a big fan of chrome either.

Well, there are alot of colors to take your pick from on TJ's. Even all the "special" colors used on them.

For me....it would probally be the greyish color they used. Or good ol' silver.

I love TJ's in the Skittle colors... I really didn't like my Sienna when I first saw it, but it was too good a deal to pass up. Now I love it... go figure. Black on any vehicle is the worst, will show every scrape and speck of dirt. Beautiful when clean and shiney. White with black is probably my favorite. Silver is probably best for not showing dirt and scratches, but I am not a fan of pavement colored vehicles... Had a Driftwood GC several years ago and loved the color, hated driving it, I felt invisible....

i feel the same way. i prefer the bright colors like solar yellow, lime green, and impact orange. i actually hate green (which my tj is and my cj WAS), but the green tj was the only one on the lot within my price range and with an auto trans.

I like white on a Jeep. I know boring, but I just like the way it looks. I also like the solar yellow. Mine is the midnight blue and it is a pain to keep clean.

My TJ is dark green. I really like that color on a jeep. Green is also my favorite color.
Most of my wheeling is through fairly thick forest and I like blending in with nature.

My favorite color is the 2005 (I think) Electric Lime Green

I hate the drab colors (khaki, tan, etc.) and absolutely hate white on any vehicle. Red is okay, but wouldn't be up my alley in choices. Sienna has grown on me. Solar yellow TJs are a little girly in my opinion (no offense to anyone, if you like it then there's no problem). Impact orange is actually the color I'm considering painting mine this summer.

... then there is black. Love it. On any car, doesn't matter. Black adds like 3+ H.P. to the engine, causes the car to absorb the most sun energy for added speed, and improves the aerodynamics from how sleek it looks.

Then it gets dirty. I know my paint job is in a condition where it could never be showroom without being repainted. I don't care, it's a Wrangler. My Mustang was black and stayed cleaned, waxed, and shined. My Wrangler stays dirty, gets the under-carriage wiped down and rust spots patched. I would never spend the money on wax for my Wrangler.

Once I replace that chrome bumper (the fenders are already painted), I'll be happy and set and won't need any more aesthetic mods for some time.

Awful. I've seen some black wranglers here pull it off, but black on black, especially without the white lettering outwards is just TOO much black.

That happens to be the color of my LJ. I have to say that I didn't really like the color at first. When DH showed me the Jeep at the dealership, my first comment was - "But it's so GREEN." *lol* I do like the drab green better but it's nice to have a color that isn't as common as many of the other colors. There are only two other Jeeps that I've seen in my area that are Electric Lime Green. One is an LJ like mine and one is a TJ. It's certainly different.

Our local dealership currently has the new Jeep Islander in that sparkly blue color. That's a nice looking color.

Stone white is my favorite (I've had 2...so far) followed by electric lime green, impact orange, and rescue green metalic.

Now I have silver...ehhh, it's ok.

Black is definitely the hardest to maintain.

Right now mine is forest green and has a tan hardtop. I like it but im not in love with it. My favorite color combo is baby blue with a white hardtop (which i plan on doing when i find some green paper).

I was thinking of getting a black jeep, but the one I wanted had already been sold. So, I opted for a red one. Black looks pretty cool, and I was going to go all black as far as rims, bull bar, etc just for a fun, sinister look to go with my black helicopter. But all the winter road salt where I live makes a black vehicle look white and dirty in an uncool way so red will be eaiser to maintain.

Mine is black. Its a PITA. But its a jeep so if its dirty, nobody cares....so it stays dirty most of the time.

My fav. is one of the Blue's...a member on here has one. his avatar is of a dog (or two) sitting in the back of his jeep....can't remember names....oh well.

Mine isn't usually THIS dirty, but its rarely "clean".

See below - I really like blue.

Mine is silver. Definitely not my first choice. I looked everywhere for a gun-metal/charcoal Jeep, but didn't have any luck. Now I'm waiting for it to hail this Spring (a guarantee around here) so I can paint mine that new Corvette orange. I forget the specific name, but it's on the new Corvettes......

EDIT----

Here's a pic. I think they call it Atomic Orange...

Mine is the Dark Green. When I was looking I wanted anything in Dark Green, Dark Blue, Yellow, Red and even Black. The Black had to be perfect though. I'm glad I found the Dark Green. After trails and mud and all.....it looks Camo. But I usually clean it up, I like it clean.

I think black wheels look good on just about any Jeep. I'm kicking around the idea of having my Eagle Alloys powdercoated flat or satin black this summer........

Here's the 'before"....

I also like the all black wheels for a lot of Jeeps, but I found a nice compromise with the wheels I got off JDHallisey. Granite 2 tone rims. Gives a little bit of accent to it without having a ton of shine

I agree... looks very nice.

I found an old thread in the pictures section full of black on black Jeeps. I haven't decided for sure yet, but I really like the look of a lot of the ones in that thread.

Black and silver wheels like the DC-2's are nice looking too, but I'm not sure I like that huge center cap.

Solar Yellow is my fav color on Jeeps. I am looking at an 01 yellow tomorrow. Yellow with black features just looks awesome to me.

Number 2 color for me would be the silvers followed by blues/greens.

I love the oranges, the burnt and the really bright one. Mine's the forest green with the tan top (spice?). Anybody put a black top on forest green? The tan is too predictable for my tastes, but it's the only color I see on the green.

I have a black TJ and about a year ago I put on black wheels. I would never change black on black. In my opinion it looks very cool.

If I get another Jeep it will probably be white for some reason I like white jeeps.

BEER30 - where does one purchase Black box wax? I used the old version of it back in the day (it was just a colored wax) on my Mom's old Black Mustang. worked nicely. I'd give it a try on the Jeep.

I'm still not sure on the black on black. It looks good, but its been done so many times that I think I'll just keep the brushed alum. look. But hey I'm a huge fan of the classic five star, so I'll probably keep my Canyons until I am forced to change them out.

I've seen a couple of forest green TJs with black tops. It looks pretty good. If I get a soft top for mine, I'd like to get a black one.
