Combo/Buget Lift for 98 TJ w/33x12.5's?

Basically, I want to run the biggest tire possible for a budget lift. Before I order tires and wheels. Can I run 33 x 12.5's with a 2" Rubicon Express coil spacer kit (already installed) and a 3" body lift (not yet installed)? Is it as simple as going high enough or is there more to it, like backspacing, rim width, etc.? If not, with that senario, what is the biggest tire I can run for roads and light off road use?

You can run 33's with the spacers and a 1" BL. No need to add that insane 3" BL that you mentioned.

Unfortunately the stock wheels on the TJ's have 5.5" of backspacing on them and are only 7.5" wide so if you tried to add a 12.50 wide tire you will be rubbing control arms. Some folks do run 33x10.50 tires on the stock rims, while just adjusting the steering stops. However new rims with around 3.75" of backspacing are what the vast majority of individuals end up doing. You can usually pick up black steel rims for around 45-50 bucks a piece.

I ran 33x12's (15x8 rims 3.75 bs) on a 2" spacer lift and 1" body for a bit on one of my TJ's. Worked okay. At full flex your tires get into the front fenders so be sure to adj your bumpstops.

I agree. I have the RE 2" BB kit and love it.. I have 33 12.50's and havent had any problems rubbing yet, I did install a 1" BL to give it alittle more room. But I did see that the 2" BL is the same price so I should have done the 2" for the extra.... Just my .02

2" BB and 1" BL, you'll be fine with 33's. I have 32's and plenty of room.

(dont ever mention 3" BL here again j/k)
