Compass

Where can I buy a compass for my '02 Wrangler? I know I will probably never use it, but I always remember my Grandpa had a compass in his rigs, so I would like to get one to give me a little reminder of him. Nothing digital, just the old style compass. Thanks, Scooby

Compass

Do a Google search for rear view mirror compass. For less than $200 you can get one built into your rear view mirror, complete with auto dimming and outside temperature, just like some of the GCs. I got one for my XJ and it works very well, much better than the old boat compass I was using.

Check out JCWhitney, or any truck stop, I'll bet you can find an old-school style dash mount..

For $2-$3 I bought an old schhool one at the auto parts store. The problem now is where do I mount it. It comes with a suction cup, but apparently the frame of my jeep is magnetic, cause it always points NW regardless of which direction I'm headed. (... and yes the compass works outside of the jeeP.)

I had the same problem with the compass i bought but it worked when i mounted it just below the rearview mirror, It worked great until one day it disapeared i dont know why someone would steal a cheap compass and leave my cds sitting right there ha ha

I know a lot of people sit it below the review mirror on the dash.

Let me ask you guys some thing? I can tell which way I am facing or going. This has been with me from the time I was a young kid. I guess it has something to do with being in a nautical family,( been around boats and water all my younger years, FLA). The ability to do this is weird because the guys at work cannot seem do this. I can instruct them to go in a preferred direction, and they come back with, " How do I know if I am going in that direction. They just can not figure it out. Do any of you guys have this ability, and do you actually need a compace? I do need to get a tilt-meter, because I get freaked out sometimes off road when I get twisted up.
Sorry for the rant just, I have always wanted to ask people this question. It really don't matter were I am, I can just tell what direction I need to go or what is south, east, north, or west.
