Confused and can't decide (lift kits)

Just bought my current TJ, it has 16in wheels with 31s, no lift. I want to do a 2in lift. I've been looking at a bunch of them, the Teraflex and Rubicon Express to name a few. My first question is do I need/want a kit with or without shocks? What are the benefits to aftermarket shocks? I'm looking at the cheap BB kits, am I better off with the stock shocks as opposed to the cheap shocks that come with these kits? Second, I'm apprehensive about doing the install myself so I went to my local 4X4 shop. They wanted to sell me the Rough Country 1.5in kit with shocks. That same kit without the shocks is a full 2in lift, why is that? I really want the full 2 inches. I'm very thankful for any advice.

This thread will give you some insight on what it takes to install the BB.

Personally, I really like the ride (on road and light offroad) with a 2" BB and the stock oem shocks. Many people will throw on a $40/ea aftermarket shocks then then complain about the stiff/harsh ride.

All are good lifts... don't worry about the installation, they're pretty easy. I just installed my own 3.25" suspension lift all by myself. I too was apprehensive, but bit the bullet and gave it a shot. No problems to report - Good Luck!

I'm not a spacer kind of guy. I went with the spring/shock combo in the 2" BDS system. Works great for me.

Thanks for the input. What are the odds that I would have to drop the T-case after doing the 2 inch lift?
