Control Arm Question

I currently have a stock '97 with the 2.5L 5 speed rolling on 31's. This summer I'm looking to do a lift and 33's. After conducting some research I think I want to do a 2" spring lift, 1.25" body lift and a motor mount lift.

I'm mainly looking at the OME 2" and a BDS 2". I've noticed that the OME kit comes without new control arms. Even DPG Offroad's OME kits lack control arms. I can however add them to the BDS kit. Are they a necessary component to what I'm looking to do?

Thanks!

Nope. I would also suggest looking at a 3 inch kit or 2.5. Doesn't ome sell a 2.5?

They are necessary when other factors come into play--you're running larger tires, require caster and pinion angle adjustment due to a high clearance belly skid, etc.--and those really have nothing to do with how tall your springs are. I strongly dislike the stock arms but the BDS arms are no better.

For that lift you will not need new control arms. you really only need new control arms when you get in the 4" suspension range. I would highly recommend a 1" body lift with a 1" motor mount lift. I am running a 2.25" budget boost and 1" BL.

I was under the impression that OME was a 2.5" kit. But I kept seeing just a 2"

2" if you go through quadratech or 2.5"+ if you go through Dirk at DPG. I just ordered the TJ Ultimate kit today. Will be getting ome 2" with 3/4" spacers. ZJ springs for front and LJ springs for rear plus the 1.25" BL and MML and adjustable track bars for $1443 shipped.

His customer service is awesome! Even if you dont buy from him he can give you some great informatiom if you're looking to go up to 33s. If you decide to talk to him, give your self about 45 min. The man knows his stuff and can talk your ear off
