Cool ideas for my wrangler?

I've got 4 months to fix my baby up before I go out on my own! I'm on a budget, but I wanna have my dream car lookin' good

I already know I'm getting subwoofers, and new dash speakers! But other than that everything is what was originally on it. Help!

Save your money and wait for a man, but be careful. He'll want to take the top off, raise the bottom, and spin the tires, without a real plan for your Jeeps future

Well if your getting new speakers, get a new head unit if you haven't already. Also, a set of rims, preferable black would change the looks greatly and set the Jeep off from looking stock. With that said, add a nice set of all terrain tires 30x9.50 or 31x10.50 and you'll have a head turner!

Welcome!!!

Well...IMO one of the least expensive and most worthwhile things you can do is upgrade the lighting, i.e. halogen headlamps and fog lights, if you don't already have some. Perhaps driving lights? The stock headlamps are very week on our wranglers. If you do any night driving, you'll be thankful of the upgrades. I know I am. It was one of the first things I did.

Are you crazy? Why would anyone light up a jeep with under lighting? I guess you are a city jeeper...you know those that drive around the city and think you are cool but never get off the road. If you want lights get them up on the roll bars and the rest of you stop sissifying the JEEP. If you are agrreeing with her then sell your jeep and buy a KIA! Next you will be putting in sub woofers and thumbing at the lights... Stay true to the legend....the legend they call JEEP!

No one ever said anything about under lighting....

Yeah....nice headlights maybe some wheels and tires.... I would skip the woofer.

High quality speakers in the soundbar and dash make a huge difference - -skip the spacehog woofers

I've tried to ignore this post but I can't help myself to comment on how disrespectful it is to the OP and to those who have posted. Not all Jeep owners are hard core rock crawlers and this is a place to unite and share interests, not make arguments. BTW "Willies", not a good impression on your 1st post. End of discussion. nnatilepalinn, get rid of the end caps aka " milkjugs" on the front bumper. It will give the retro CJ look and best of all, it's free.

Perhaps read the post a little more carefully next time before you begin bashing..

Fog lamps and some wheels and tires are definitely good ideas! They make a huge difference! Check the for sale section here on the forum and your local craigslist...there are always tons of good deals on CL...wish I had more money to take advantage of them!!

Edit: Very well put Phil!

I suggest saving the money from the woofer and putting it toward new speakers. I wanted to put a sub in mine at first but I realized there is no room to put one and that if I have the top down the chances that someone will steal it are greater or it might rain, ruining it. What I ended up doing was replacing the blown factory sub in my console with a $20 one I found online. It's good enough for me :P besides audiophiles don't buy jeeps, too much wind noise.

As far as other mods, take off the milk jugs, repaint your fender flares black (if they're faded. My 04 flares were so I imagine yours are), new wheels (cragar soft 8 is a very popular wheel - $49 a pop), and possibly new more aggressive tires.

It really depends on your budget. But aftermarket speakers/head unit should def be towards the top of your list. (i practically blew the speakers in my soundbar)

Tires... only if you need them, I'd opt more for an exhaust and intake.

#1 Please dont call it a car....you are a proud owner of a Jeep!

#2 My best suggestion is a set of mirror relocation brackets or motorcycle mirrors so you can take the doors off come spring....besides that save as much as you can for gas $ because you will be doing a hell of a lot of driving!

Thanks BuckeyeLJ! nnatiliepalinn, do a Google images search on Jeeps and take a look at exterior features that you think you might be interested in for appearance changes. A little can make alot! Most importantly, make it your own and be proud of your decisions!

You might want to look at the new Goodyear Duratracs. There are lots of threads on this tire and overall it is all positive.

Remove the end caps on the bumper is a freebee. Another is to cut it down on the ends. Shows some more tire which always looks good on a jeep and again gives it a old school cj look and tough too. Tinted windows for the soft top and tint the front windows. Thats always a cheaper easier thing to do that makes a big difference. The sound system like you've mentioned. But don't get a sub first. Music is nothing with out clarity. Get some good speakers a head unit and if you can swing it a amp to power the speakers. Trust me you'll enjoy that more then a sub. Another option other then rims thats cheap and takes some time and work is refinishing the wheels. I used duplicolor wheel coating on mine. And its holding up and looks great. Personally I went with graphite for the color to give it a good look. I'm also using that same paint on the grill (got the idea from the jk mountain editions). Check out my jeep profile to see what the wheels look like and see what I have for a sound system. Trust me the sound system is LOUD and extremely clear. It also still gives some good bass from the 6x9's in the back. If you have questions regarding the wheel coating or sound system shoot me a pm. I'd be glad to give some pointers.

Gotta disagree with you about the wind noise. That's the whole reason I put my subs in... So my stereo will be louder than the wind!

If you're going for subs, you have to be willing to give up the space. A good box is essential. I lucked out and got a Thunderform 2x10" box cheap off of Craigslist.
Thunderform Series JWTJ97 | Jeep - Wrangler TJ 1997-2006 | MTX Audio
It points the subs down and is contoured exactly to the trunk, with grooves for the rear seat brackets slide through when it folds and even a little curved space for the soft top to sit on.
But if you type "sub box jeep" into craigslist you should find lots of people selling little boxes they made...

Train horns... so when someone cuts in front of you the horn doesn't sound like a dying goat and you get their attention. In all seriousness take off the milk jugs, maybe some all-terrain tires and some cheap side mirrors that mount in the door posts so you can take the doors off. Then just enjoy it. No need to massively modify it, if the need doesn't call for it. The best part about owning a Jeep is customizability. Build something you'll be happy with and keep waving to fellow Jeepers .

Actually I got it used and only paid 75 bucks because it was banged up and scratched (and I care what it looks like??).
The good part is that the guy threw in this massive steel bar that he welded to bold the thing down and make it somewhat thief proof. The point is that I love it .

I will disagree with this statement...explain to us again why underlighting WOULDNT be a good idea.
