^#$^( Coolant leak - strange place

No real happy about this one - recently replaced radiator and hoses. Water pump in good shape. No smells, leaks, etc - all looks good. A couple weeks later, I smell that coolant smell and pop the hood. I hear a little hiss from the driver's side and see drop by drop a slow leak of coolant onto the exhaust pipe. I track it up as far as I can, but can't locate source. Seems to be somewhere under the intake manifold.

Any ideas? Someone please tell me there's something under the intake that's suspect and that it's easy to repalce.

There is a freeze plug under the intake manifold. 4 cyl? I just had this same issue. if it is the same you will need a 1" core plug. I got mine at the auto store for $0.54. You will also need to replace the gasket since the plug is underneath that also.

It is a 2.5. How difficult was the replacement? Did you find instructions online?

Thanks for the response.

It wasn't too bad, Once you get the old one out, if you get a socket that fits in the opening you can hammer it in until it's flush. Plenty of instructions on how to change them online... now that I think about it there are a bunch of different ones on the same side. Once you get it apart a pair of calipers will tell the right size.
