Hey everyone,

I'm waiting for a quote from the shop, but it looks like I need; radiator, lifters, rockers and camshaft (4.0 engine).

I know its not going to be a cheap job, but what would be a realistic high and low price I could expect to pay for everything (parts and labor). Just want to make sure they're being fair with me.

Are you rebuilding the engine or just replacing the valve train

Go ahead and rebuild bro. If you have this kind of damage, more is on the way. If you are going in, may as well go all in...

Update, I finally got my Jeep back! I just ended up just having my mechanic do what he recommended with a couple other odds and ends. After tax, the total bill was $2,400 for:

- Camshaft
- Lifters
- Radiator, hoses & antifreeze
- Timing chain and gears
- Starter
- Head gasket and head bolts
- Oil and filter change

I was also told the compression numbers were solid and the bottom end of the engine was scoped and everything looked good from what they could see. I haven't felt a noticeable increase in power, however she seems to run smoother...and much quieter now. Will any of this help with mpg? Could those issues have caused my catalytic converter to go bad a few months back?

Sucks it's another bill to worry about, but at least I got it back with hopefully a few more weeks of nice weather!
