Cost To Go From Hard Top To Soft

I'm looking at a 2004 Jeep with a hard top. I had a '98 Wrangler with the soft top and 1/2 doors. This '04 has the full door. What would it take to get the 1/2 door look and soft top on this '04?

How much trouble would it be to run without the doors? It appears that the sideview mirrors would have to be relocated (maybe to mount off of the windshield).

Not sure about the soft top thing. Would like to find out myself. As far as the mirror design flaw, who ever came up with that needs to be shot. In Missouri the answer is that you can get a ticket for running without doors because the missing mirror. there are 3 or 4 opptions at JC Whitney and other sites to be had. If emoving the doors use an oversizes socket and a piece of a chamie ( Ok, I think thats spelled wrong, sorry ) to keep from scaring the nut that holds the door in place... Just thought I would throw that out there... Back to the mirror thing, I chose the door hinge mounting mirror for a couple of reasons. 1. the easy mounting / pull the door / pop on the mirror and go. 2. Price and look. $60.00 a pair. hope that helps...

well about the mirror. ya its illegal to not have mirrors on but it doesnt matter if you have doors or not haha. so you can go ahead and buy some mirror relocating thing, or be like me and just not care. if a cop pulls you over just give him the 'i had no idea im sorry ill go buy those right now when i get home', it will usually work.

so ya

Most states require at least one mirror, so the one on the windshield is usually all you need to be legal. Some places may be controlled by Nazi's though, so watch out. I went from a hard top to soft for free. I had a worn out soft top I traded for a hard top, painted the hard top, kept it on for a year then sold it for enough to buy a new Bestop, hard ware, and still had enough to get my adjustable track bar. Hard top was nice, but I'm a rag top man. If you don't want to keep the hard top, sell it. You'll get a lot more than you need for a good top or you can buy a top of the line soft top.

If you want to run with your doors off but still be legal, you don’t have to spend a lot of money on relocation brackets. See the attached picture. I bought a couple of mirrors from Pep Boys for 4 bucks each. Then went to the hardware store and bought a couple of bolts, nuts and washers. Then for the brackets, I used some electrical conduit elbows and flattened the ends, then drilled holes on each end. This all was done for $11.00 bucks. In the picture they are mounted to the tube doors. But when I don't run the tube doors , they mount to the door hinge.
