Cracked Radiator

In my 2000 wrangler my radiator is cracked. I have been told that it is possible to just get it welded at the top for abot $50-75 insead of just replacing it and it is as good as new, as long as the core doesn't need replaced. Does anyone have an expierence in this or any recomendations. If I should replace it with a new one what kind?

Welded? Is it aftermarket or did they stop using the plastic tanks?
My 99 had plastic on top and bottom. It started leaking so I just replaced with a 3 core.

Depends on a few things, if it is factory or aftermarket and the location of the crack. If it is factory and the plastic is cracked you will have to get it replaced. I repaired one once with JB Weld and it ran for a while after the fix but it might have been pure luck. If it is an aluminum or steel aftermarket then yes you can take it to a radiator shop and they can repair it. Price depends on the shop and the area.

I have not bought one from these guys, but hear they have a good product at a great price.
Mines an 01, still waiting for the leak that everyone eventually gets.
I did a search for your year and make with air. 2 row (all you need) is $161 shipped to your door.

you'll have to see what material it is...you sure can't weld it if its plastic...and like stated it depends on where the crack is

im pretty sure that if it is metal, it would be way to thin to be welded. I weld a lot and i can weld anything that thin, the weld would just cut away on the radiator. try JB weld, you can get it at discount auto parts.

I have had really good results from my CSF radiator. All metal and 3 row HD design hasn't let me down. Most of my close wheelin buddies run them when their stocker craps out. You can get the 3 row from Dirk at www.dpgoffroad.com for a good price. Ask him about the CSF warranty if something bad should happen to yours.

I ordered a CSK 3-core from them before - it started leaking about 2 months after I installed it. I then replaced it with a CSK 2-core unit, and it hasn't given me ANY trouble yet.

Radiator barn is a good place - just don't go with the 3-core radiator unless you get an expensive high end aluminum unit. If you ask around - you'll find that lots of people have problems with the 3 core and that the 2 core is a lot better.

You don't weld radiators, you solder them. Radiator shops do it all the time. I worked in one for some time when I was younger. It's no big deal.
